Wasn't there. But once I heard about Supergate malfunction, all I could think is "not this shit". I hope the story arch is nice. Leaves me feeling bit kicked down on Ageira fronts in all houses.

To be honest, given recent community attitudes I feel like that outcome was inevitable. As I said previously, according to a source from within the Dev team, it initially was supposedly just going to be a sucker punch that forcefully ended the war. I think this course of action was the right one.
Honestly what I think would have been cooler is if the fleets are actually given the chance to find their way home: picture a scenario where the gate basically sent them into the depths of the Edge Worlds, and you could have a Nomad War MK2 situation where Order or someone are trying to save the fleets from being eliminated by the Nomads. It'd be a really neat continuation of the event, kind of like a spin-off episode.
