Text message to all personnel, from Amiral Isabelle Montlaville de Chanteloup
Topic : status of current operations and personnel-related announcements
Pilots, commanders and crew members,
The most astute among you have probably noticed that I was back.
For the vast majority of you, probably asleep before receiving this message : BONJOUR. I am back.
I have spent the better part of this spring attending various, extremely important and just as secret meetings. I have also been supervising the development of a particular project that could expedite the resolution of this conflict. You're better off not knowing what this project is. But it is looking well, and it is coming.
I know most of you missed me terribly. I'm hoping a few songs and poems were even written in my honneur, and I can't wait to hear them. But the work I have accomplished is bearing fruit. While you successfully held the line and lead daring operations deep within enemy territory, I devised new ways for us to move the frontlines. You will find a summary below, and the actions that I demand be taken as a result.
- The loss of the Bétheny
Once again, we've lost one of ours to the enemy. The Bétheny had become known as an exciting posting, directly in the heat of the Libertonian front. What started as a mere diversion became a full-on offensive. This distraction caused the Libertonians to cower in fear of our might, as their precious space was being encroached upon, further and further. To defeat this formidable, talented and brave fleet, they have dispatched not one, not two, but THREE battlegroups. The loss of our ship was predictable, but it came at great cost to the simian-esque foe. Not to mention the successful sabotage that rid us of two Libertonian battlegroups, that are probably exploring uncharted, VERY DISTANT space right now.
Remember the Bétheny and her crew. They were instructed by Charles himself to hold the line, which they did, paying the ultimate price in so doing. Self-sacrifice is likely to remain a tragic necessity of war before the day is out.
As we speak, the Carcassonne has taken over and is moving ever close into California. Liberty is now in utter panic, and we will continue to capitalise on that. However, the time for mass deployment of our armadas on this front is over. I now expect sporadic raids and lightning fast strikes, on our terms. Save your efforts for Bretonia's fall. God knows we have bled enough for Liberty.
- The advance on London
Since the bolstering of our Trinité with the help of the Custodi nation, we have been making steady progress on London, and are moving up to systematically cut off the capital planet from every possible supply line and installation. While the Bretonians have, through treachery and betrayal, annexed a civilian shipyard and a decaying planet, they have thus far, and predictably, failed to find a way to turn the tides of this campaign. They are merely dragging on something that should have ended many years ago.
Your current orders stand. Bretonia remains our main axis of effort, and none shall be spared in the accomplishment of our objectives. Several operations are in the drawing phases and you will hear of them soon.
- The fall of Roussillon
You've heard about the Council growing bolder in Picardy, and you're aware of the Arles' demise in Provence. The Conseillards are indeed making bold moves and costing us a good deal of time on the home front. Due to a fatal blunder on their part, we now know where they're hiding : the Roussillon system. It's been the subject of several raids from our forces lately, but the time has finally come to deal the killing blow.
Significant transport activity has already been detected from their positions, and Provence has seen a significant rise in traffic, too. I wish for both Gendarmerie and 5G units to get on that, and interdict as much of this traffic as possible ; through whatever needs necessary. Ending the Council's footprint in Sirius will put a severe dent in their unreasonable aspirations. Terrorise them, rather than kill them. They are still Gauls, and we'll need manpower in the months to come.
- The bolstering of the auTauroute
I've heard some reports of a slight increase in Maltese activity around the auTauroute. While this can't be permitted, I'm much more concerned with the apparent rise in Maquisard operations along this important corridor. Steps will be taken to ensure that our lines there are protected, in spite of our massive concentration of forces on the front. You will hear more about these efforts soon. They will require dedication and manpower, but the results should be significant. We're looking at, essentially, counter-insurgency operations. Quick strikes and light patrols, to suppress the foe wherever it shows its ugly tail. Kusari may be tasked to support us, as is their destiny.
One of the key objectives of this upcoming operation is to locate possible tensions in the relationships of our irregular enemies. We must act on these tensions and either provoke ruptures and thus sow disharmony between them, or gain new allies in the process. This will be a delicate balancing act, but we cannot afford more threats anymore.
- The Gallic science parade
Given the Council's efforts in Gallia, and the deployment of rear echelon units from Gallia into the frontlines, our homes may seem a little unprotected to the populace, at present. Our new cartography division is going to embark upon a campaign within Gallia, with two goals. One, obtain jump coordinates for key systems, enabling our forces to rapidly respond to any large-scale incursion. Jump technology is fiddly, unwieldy and tremendously expensive ; I will only rely on it for maximum emergencies. But for that, we need to be prepared.
The second goal of this campaign will be to reassure the population of our resilience, and demonstrate our continued, dominating presence on our own territoire.
There will be much to do for us this summer. And I cannot do it all alone. I will need pilots and commanders to complete these assignments, but I will also need officers to supervise them and report back to me. Each operation will have a designated director, who will have my trust in accomplishing their objectives.
That's all for now. Below, you'll find a summary of my decisions in regards to HR and operations, as usual.
Promotions and rewards
The following men and women of the Marine Royale Gauloise have demonstrated exemplary conduct, tireless commitment and skill in the art of war. They are to be commended and honoured.
OFFICIERS GENERAUX
- Contre-amiral Nicodème Guillory has been elevated to the rank of amiral. Ever reliable and dutiful, Guillory's first term as general officer has confirmed the état-major feeling about him, and continued his proven track record. Though ever discreet and not prone to occupying the stage, amiral Guillory is a tireless worker, hell-bent on making sure that everything works, all the time. The MRG could use millions of people like him, but will have to make do with just him. Amiral Guillory is officially the second in command of the Marine Royale and as such, speaks with the authority of the Amiral de Gaule Chanteloup herself.
OFFICIERS SUPERIEURS
- Capitaine de Frégate Louis Clément has been elevated to the rank of Contre-amiral. Clément continues his quick rise through the MRG hierarchy, owing to his unquestionable dedication and acute sense of what is wrong... And the courage to speak it out loud. Very loud, sometimes, but unspoken mistakes rarely find happy resolutions. His remarkable presence, actions in the field and wisdom have found him a place among the officiers généraux, skipping the rank of capitaine de vaisseau. Contre-amiral Clément is now a member of the Etat-major.
- Capitaine de Frégate Pierre Vaillant has been elevated to the rank of Capitaine de Vaisseau. True to himself, Vaillant has kept our pilots busy and crafted many plans over the past season, some more sensible than others. Though he has a hard time behaving adequately to his superiours and sticking to the chain of command, he has proven to possess a high degree of technicity, exemplified in his vital contribution during the rescue of a GRI saboteur, where he calculated the escape pod's probable location successfully. Still, his audacity can sometimes turn into recklessness and his overconfidence have given concerns regarding his capacity for leadership and strategic management, hence why he will not integrate the Etat-major until further notice.
OFFICIERS SUBALTERNES
- Enseigne de vaisseau François Hannart de la Vignolle-Haute has been elevated to the rank of Lieutenant de vaisseau. The MRG was expecting much from the veritable beacon of pure Gallic energy that you are. And you have certainly delivered ! We are pleased that you have made time for quality military service amidst your very busy nobleman's life. Our thanks, monsieur, and congratulations.
- Enseigne de vaisseau Christian Sauvageot has been elevated to the rank of Lieutenant de vaisseau. Although impossibly work-shy, the elegant Christian Sauvageot has proven at least moderately useful in several occasions. This promotion celebrates this humble service of yours, as well as your long-standing presence and continued loyalty in this unit.
- Enseigne de vaisseau Jean-Paul Bourdeau has been elevated to the rank of Lieutenant de vaisseau. A very recent addition to the ranks, lieutenant Bourdeau was quick to demonstrate rigor and commitment to duty, a task made difficult given the current situation. He is commended for his rapid adaptation and much is expected of him yet.
- Aspirant Sean Dumont has been elevated to the rank of Enseigne de vaisseau. In his short tenure among the MRG, aspirant Dumont has already found the occasion to illustrate himself on many occasions and has demonstrated exceptional eagerness during his service. His future in the MRG looks bright.
OFFICIERS MARINIERS
- Major Félix Dorian has been elevated to the rank of Enseigne de vaisseau. Major Dorian has proven, in his now considerable time spent with the MRG, to be a very reliable, constant and eager pilot. His rise was followed carefully, and it has been decided that now would be his time to join the Officiers. A new life starts for you, lieutenant. Congratulations.
- Maître Marc Zimmermann has been elevated to the rank of Maître Principal. Maître Zimmermann, a recent sailor and gallic citizen both, has eloquently demonstrated that valour does not wait for time. A true embodiment of Gallic far-reaching splendor, maître Zimmermann has shown to be an amicable companion and a tireless proponent for Gallic superiority. Surely a future pupil of the magnificent Chambellan of the Marine Royale, Everett Fontaine.
EQUIPAGE
- Quartier-maître Rupert Davies has been elevated to the rank of Maître Principal. This special dispensation was effected by taking into consideration Davies' track record and confirmed, unquestionable loyalty. Much like MP Zimmermann, Davies is a symbol of foreign citizens integrating themselves into Gallia with utter success, and becoming precious contributors to her triumph. This promotion skips several ranks to reflect upon his long service and unfaltering dedication.
- Matelot Claude Wallace has been elevated to the rank of Quartier-maître. The shy and discreet Wallace has shown good promise in his short time with us. His extreme motivation and willingness to become better and stronger have attracted attention in high places.
Current operations and assignments
ALL STANDING OPERATIONS AND TASK FORCES ARE HEREBY CALLED OFF.
Several dramatic shifts in the strategic situation have spawned the need for a complete reallocation and redistribution of assets. More on that soon.
