Cait woke up and left the bed, silent she made her way to the window. it was now the third day since she found the O'Rhu|CV-Sakir'har, the Red Velvet Club remained at her side. it was also the third day since she sent out the comm to the Blood Dragons, of course, it was natural that she won't get a response on the same day. any Military Opposition that hides from the Ruling Power they fight against, would first Check her. she was an Unknown Factor to them and anyone that lived in the Underground as long as the Blood Dragons would know better than to answer right away. but that leaves her with the Problem that she cant leave TAVIA on her own out here. she leans on the window with a Coffee in her hand and lools on the still drifting Sakir'har. "what am I gonna do with you Sweety" it goes to Caits Mind, of course, she could leave her here she was far away from the shipping lanes so no one should stumble upon her. but she had a Bad Feeling about that, and she tends to listen to her feelings. Something that has proven right as the lovely Rheinlander in her Bed Proves. she needs to smile as she Turns towards her Desk, a Photo of her Mother and Cait together with her uncle Werner made her smile even more. and then she had an idea. After her Mother Kicked her out, her Uncle was the only one that was still on her side. Even though they are not really Blood-Related he cared for her. Until the present day, she received a message from him on every Birthday. He opened a shop on a Junker Station some Years ago. She goes to her desk and Takes the Headphones out so that she dont wake up Steph, as she Searches for the Comm Frequency it took some time before the Long-range Comm Array gets a Stable Connection and her Uncle answers the Call. "Caity what in the.... do you know how late it is here ...... ah forget it, of course, you dont know" said a Tired Werner. but even though his words may be harsh his eyes Sparkle with Joy to see her. "Sorry Uncle I Just needed to talk with you I call later when you had some Rest" Werners Eyes get a Grimm look, behind him you could see a Dismantled Engine and some Tools lying around the Workshop. "Dont you Dare Caitlyn Annabeth Cross you had a Reason, and it is not so often I get a call from my favorite nice so how can an Old man Help you." Cait smiled like an Insane its always this old game between them. first, he plays the Buissy angry man but both of them know this is just for show. he loves Cait as if she was his daughter and she loves him like her Father. she needs to plan a Visit in her Schedule it was way too long since last time. "well Uncle I have a little Unusual situation here but well I made a promise and you know I keep them, but I have aslo my Job so I need a safe place for that Promise somewhere near if Possible." as she told him what happened and what she had done his face got Grimm and Grimmer "YOU DID WHAT! are you Insane do you know how dangerous that Promise is, how much trouble it can bring to you." he sighed as he calms down while he talked. going around in his Workshop like a Tiger in his Cage. "holy hell Caity this time you killed the Bird. well, then let's see how we sort out that mess. as I know you, you won't let that thing where you found it." you could see him running through his workshop, searching for something. her Uncle was Old School he uses paper and Pen. Goods know why and where he gets it, he was throwing stuff around and Swore like a Dock Worker. while Cait tried her hardest not to laugh. if she would lose that fight she would find herself on the floor, while she holds her Belly. so she watched the Screen as her Uncle made a show worthy of an Old Comedy Film. after 10 Minutes he finally Found what he Searched and came back to the Desk with a Book bound in Leather. and starts to Search in it as if it would have all the answers to the Universe. "aha I knew I had it" he points on a site in the Book as if she would stand right behind him. "In the System, you are there is someone that Can Help you a former Apprentice of me. He lives there on a Freelancer Base, to be honest, its a Place worse than some of our Ports. but he can be Trusted if you pay him well, he can be even Loyal till the end. he is an Engineer there holding the Place together, after some A....... put some holes in it." Cait hadn't believed what he said could she have that much Luck. "are you Sure here in this System, I had feared that I had need to move her in another system. I mean a Jump to the Hawaii would be no problem, even trough the Capitan wouldn't be happy." he cuts her words "Caity when did I lead you ever on a wrong Trail, hmm go to the Coordinates you find the Help you need there. and dont worry I give him a Warning Call so he will know that you are Coming"Cait sighed in Relive as the Coordinates showed up on her Screen after she relayed it to the Bridge with the Order to Get the Sakir'har towed there She Kisses her hand and touches the Screen as her Uncle does the same. It was a Ritual that survived from her Childhood. A Couple Hours Later the Velvet Arrived at Newport Station. As her Uncle Promised a Young man waited for her and the Sakir'har got her own Pressurized Hangar. Cait Paid for several Months, Claiming to restore an old Prototype Yacht. The Administration simply shrug their shoulders and walked away. Now she stands there on a work scaffolding, and tuches TAVIAs Hull. "hold out a little longer I will get you the Help you need I Keep my Promise"
This is my Quest to follow that star,
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far,
To fight for the right
Without question or pause,
To be willing to march into night
For.....a cause!
As soon as he landed his fighter into the docking bay of the Ma'at, Talfryn went to his cabin, visibly affected by the meeting. He sat down at the desk, noticing on the screen of his computer the messages that he had read over and over again these past weeks, whilst Ma'at made its way from Bretonnia to the Sigmas. As farfetched as it seemed, he found Sakir'har, he found TAVIA "How the hell was that even possible?!" thought Talfryn; he found Lafferentz...Lafferentz, Alexander 'Unioner' Lafferentz. He remembers even now seeing for the first time this strange fellow accompanying Orack down the main docking bay of Thabit,. He stirred quite the controversy among the people present that very first day. He looked so out of place in his Rheinalnder outfit among O'Rhu's personnel, so...lost. But he kept up close to Orack as they made their way to the big man's office. That was Orack's way of greeting every newcomer, a sort of ceremonial walk-and-show all the way to the big office. Orack really new how to leave an impression on people. He did the very same thing with him, when he joined O'Rhu. He remembers to this day that gut-hitting emotion, all that hassle and bustle in docking bay area, the new, the excitement, Orack's speech in the office...
As much as he was thankful for seeing old friends and familiar places, he was more devastated by the fact that all the bad news about Thabit, the heart and soul of O'Rhu, the base that took so much effort to set in place and maintain, so that O'Rhu could really have a place of their own in that harsh part of Sirius, a home for the many that wore O'Rhu's coat-of-arms was destroyed...Unioner saw it being decommissioned and many of the men and assets repurposed. How could Orack let that happen, why?! And most importantly, where was Orack? These were all thoughts passing through Talfryn's mind in the wake of the very unlikely meeting that had just taken place.
Talfryn pressed a small button on his communicator. "Johnathan, I think it's about time we tell everyone everything. Thabit is no more, Unioner confirmed it. The cell is long disband and Orack is nowhere to be found. I have serious reasons to believe that we were last to hear of Orack and the crew on the Rahotep, at the time we sent Sakir'har from our detail to meet them. Please muster the crew in the docking area, I'd want to break the news to the myself" A short yes sir! was heard coming back from the device, in a easily noticeable troubled voice.
How could have Orack let this happen, the man that basically built this from scratch, after O'Rhu have seen the worse days in the aftermath of Toledo. This man managed to rally so much support behind O'Rhu and what it stands for, so much was his heart in this and people loved him for it; the man that steered O'Rhu so consciously of its mission, so well so that it was recognized even in the eyes of the Overwatch. O'Rhu have seen greatness under his leadership. How could all be gone now just like that...? This couldn't be, there must be something else here and that ship, the very ship that nosy OS&C captain, Caitlyn, found holds the answers. It must be so that Sakir'har be put back in shape and TAVIA is set back online, no matter the costs, no matter how; what happened to Orack must be the key to this ordeal, to this nightmare, and TAVIA most certainly holds the answer.
Talfryn removed himself from the desk and went to the porthole. Looking at the nebula outside, he felt his blood rushing and a warmth started to take over his whole body. He felt anger, yet he also felt powerless. Thinking of the crew he was about to face and the decisions he was to convey to them. will they stick by his side even now? Will they continue to fight, will they want to go further than anyone can ask of them and try, just try to find Orack? Talfryn tried to shake this thought for a moment, he felt he needed his head clear, he tried to focus on the task at hand, as Orack thought him, tried to be present here and now. and the here and now was a terrible one to be living...it was on him to find where Orack is, the only man holding the answers now. He'll have to send men on Newport Station to get Sakir'har back in functioning order. He'll have to go there himself too. That gunboat hods what may be the single chance of knowing where Orack is, not even mentioning the operational or the sentimental value of that craft. After all, at this moment the Ma'at and the Sakir'har were the last known O'Rhu assets. Five years ago, when heading to Bretonnia for the secret mission that had Ma'at silent from most of the time passed since, he was the one to pass the Sarki'har crew the new orders, and had seen this gunboat leave Ma'at's detail to meet with Rahotep, the flagship of O'Rhu. At that time he never thought that would be the last time he'd ever see the Rahotep, its crew and Orack.
Talfryn tried to remember anything suspicious, from back then, when the orders to let Sakir'har out of Ma'at's detail came in. The way Orack ran O'Rhu meant, at time assuming direct control and giving orders to assets directly. So was the case of Ma'at, sent in Bretonnia to oversea the war there so that, in a desperate move, Bretonnia was not to get their hands deeper into alien technology, without Order's knowledge. He remembers clearly the discussion Orack had with Ma'at's captain, Cmdr. Forson, where the Director had the bad feeling that might be a very strong possibility at the time. He was right to fear this, as patrols revealed the Sunderland Research Facility in the atmosphere of Planet Darlington, in Newcastle, studying a nomad city. The stupidity on these Bretonnians... A sudden frown could be noticed on Talfryn face. Sunderland...that damn station. He shakes at the thought of that station...Talfryn started rubbing his forehead. In trying to keep up with the events surrounding that station, Ma'at suffered greatly, with loss of life and Talfryn having to step in as the new acting commanding officer of the Ma'at. Talfryn tried to shook the thought, it was still so painful to think of that night, he still had nightmares of it all...He tried to be back present, here and now, here and now as Orack was saying to him so many times before. "Here and now, Talfryn..."
Returning at his desk, Talfryn saw the open conversation on his computer again. Thinking of it and the meeting today, in Sigma 19, near the gas miner, Talfryn took comfort knowing at least Lafferentz was in on this, and, funnily enough, Caitlyn was too...Talfryn couldn't helped but to let out a small smirk thinking of the friends he has just met, an old one, and a new one...
Each new today brings a new tomorrow,
So do not fear failure, but rather fear not trying.
Sakir'har was running again, all systems operational. Truth be told, not much had to be done on board, apart from re-routing most of the systems that were previously run through TAVIA interface so that they can again be manually controlled. That and the broken engine nacelle had to be repaired, some of the plating had been seriously damaged in the explosion that left the gunship adrift in Sigma 13. As it happens, whoever decided to blow out the engine knew what he was doing. The vessel would have been stranded, but no serious damage came to be to the ship itself. Even more puzzling is the way it had been sent to drift, which meant that eventually, the vessel would have reached a stable orbit, intersecting many of the paths O'Rhu. Somebody wanted this vessel to be found. Talfryn was puzzled, and it can be safe to say that all were. This, in itself, would have been reason enough for this to become some sort of a legend, but the puzzle does not stop here. The tech guys did confirmed the fact a copy of TAVIA was on-board, complete with functionality and a database. For the untrained eye, this would look and feel as the real TAVIA. and the fact that it was integrated into almost all aspects of the vessel is truly intriguing.
Talfryn remembers even now the day Orack announced TAVIA, as the one asset that would make his dream possible - an O'Rhu base of operations in the middle of Omicron Mu, run by a skeleton crew of just a few hundred, all this possible with the help of TAVIA - Thabit's Autonomous Virtual Intelligence Assistant. Orack believed this was the the one missing puzzle piece for transforming O'Rhu from just another Cell in the secondary Fleet, to the lean fighting force that it came to be known and appreciated as. He knew about Orack's plan to further integrate the interface as an Assistant for O'Rhu's assets too, but that, as far as he knew, was long from even being possible. All that was possible at the time was just having TAVIA on a subspace link, via CONNECT, O'Rhu's secure communication system. It was real time assistance, but never integrated with the vessels, nothing like this, No ability to run the vessels, and in the absence of a stable comm-link, there would be no TAVIA, no assistance what so ever. And the fact the tech guys found this TAVIA to have been paired via a dedicated link with presumable another instance of TAVIA? Talfryn, Lafferentz and the others, all tried to make heads and tails of this.
Even more strange, the surprises did not stop here. All gathered on board Sakir'har and all were trying to find more clues about the fate of Orack, O'Rhu Cell, the Rahotep. And then it happened. Lafferentz's presence was detected by TAVIA, and the previously locked out instance came online. Caytlin's presence once the vessel had been found, it seems has forced the ship to lock out, only to be activated now. "But why Lafferentz...?" Talfryn was still puzzled by this, but content with the fact he had a new trail to follow. The logs still intact contained a small transmission by Orack himself, dated a couple of years ago, asking in a rather urgent manner the help of Lafferentz, Paige and himself. They were to meet Orack in Omega-58, that dreaded system. The call asked for urgency and secrecy. It was clear Orack was onto something, and by the looks of things, something big. Why not call the help of O'Rhu or even Overwatch, why only a small strike force made up of vessels commanded by these three? Even stranger is that it called for just these three individuals. Apart from Paige, which was in command of one of the Cell's Osiris at the time, the other two were just to arrive there in small crafts. Fate has it that now, both him and Lafferentz have received the message, but so late. Of Paige's whereabouts none of them knew nothing. Maybe Paige got the message and met Orack there...
"Two years....almost two years." Talfryn found himself repeating since the finding. A number of scenarios were running through his head, all leading in the end at the same two questions: what was Orack doing in Omega-58? and what has happened to him and the Rahotep? The thought of Orack still alive was also haunting him, but he tried to not let this cloud his judgment. At this point, Talfryn already formulated a plan, and it involved moving into the vicinity of Omega-58. Having in mind Caitlyn's connections with the Junkers, the idea of staging their operations from Omega-55 seemed a good one. This time, luck was on their side, as Caitlyn's uncle was living on the small outpost in Omega-55, Bornholm Depot. As Caitlyn put it, the debris field surrounding it would provide the necessary cover for the small action group, and the remoteness of the station would mean the chance of unwanted guests would be small. Talfryn took the decision to keep this in secrecy from the Overwatch, part for not begin too comfortable with them, in general, but the major part being that nobody knew what happened to O'Rhu, and he won't risk their interference now. After all, Overwatch seems to have forgotten of his inquiry some months ago, most likely that desk jokey filed the request under false claims and marked it as being resolved - a blessing in disguise in the end.
"That reminds me..."Talfryn moved to his desk and opened a line to the hangar. "Have the fighter wing prepared, I'll have Zahir break in basic operations myself." He left from his desk and moved to the porthole, thinking of this rag-tag team that was taking shape, and especially at the new additions, mister Lykos Zahir, a man that seems to be where trouble is, and TAVIA, able to ease the manning requirements on board the gunboat Sakir'har and a valuable bundle of information.
It is not in the bricks, it is not in the windows,
It is in the friends and the family living under its roof.
The ragtag group made its way through system after system, silently, towards Omicron 55. Talfryn thought long and hard about how to approach the next step in this quest to find out what happened to O'Rhu Cell, to Rahotep, ans to Orack, and staging the next step from Omega 55 seemed not only logical, but also more practical, in order to stay out of sight by, well, virtually everyone. The voice messages left behind by Orack, calling them to Omega 58, we're empty of other information, and as such, Talfryn had no other choice but to reach that dreaded system. Looking at things, this was not an easy task to complete. First, because he did not know what to expect, he was not sure he wanted to find that Orack was dead and gone, along with Rahotep, and this to be the end of dream that was O'Rhu Cell even. Second, the Intel about that system was many years old by now, since last expedition in the fringes of that system done by O'Rhu took place a few months before the CV-Ma'at was dispatched to scour the bretonian systems. A blind jump, basically. Third, they were in need of some staging base, and this had to be such a place that allowed the simple, fast, unnoticed movement in its vicinity, on the one hand, and the ability to sustain them and the crafts, on the other. Luckily, Caitlyn's uncle was a resident of the small Junker depot in the system, Bornholm. It seems that as annoying this woman seemed to Talfryn, as much she was well connected in the strangest of places. Running people through space and beyond in leisure trips had to be a reason for it, among others. In the end, Alexander Lafferentz was right about her, it seems. She proved of a real gain for this endeavor that Talfryn was so obsessively pursuing.
So this was the new 'home' away from home for the group. During his years in Bretonia, he dreamt about the moment he was to be part of another O'Rhu operation. He could not have ever imagined then that the first operation back home would be one to find out why there is no more O'Rhu. And all this with the help of some newcomers, people that could as well just leave and see about their lives. Life is strange, that is for sure. And Talfryn already started to make plans of how to handle this next challenge. He wanted to find out faster about the fate of Orack and the Rahotep, about what series of events pushed Orack to call for just a handful of O'Rhu personnel to their help, and why here, out of all places, why in Omega 58. His first thought was to catch a tongue or two and see about the activity in the region, all activity by all, and especially the activity of the infected ones, the Wild. Second, to find out more about the JH in the Omega 58 system and as much Intel about the system and its surrounding as possible. He still wanted to avoid a completely blind jump, given the circumstances. Third, he needed to consult with Alexander Lafferentz and the few others officers about how to proceed once in the system. He came to value and actively look for Unoner's advice and expertise. After all, Orack also took great interest into him, during the years, and Talfryn came to understand more why. Last, but not least, TAVIA was to be reinstated with full commands on the Sakir'Har. Whilst not something Talfryn was completely sure about, the lack of proper manpower meant this was the best solution for now.
For now though, all that the group had to do was to make the best of the facilities on board Bornholm and make themselves accustomed with the surrounding. Soon, they'll have to set up patrols, just like in Bretonia, and set things in motion to see this ordeal to the end. Talfryn thought Unioner could manage the patrols and the Intel gathering, all the while taking Lykos under his wing and train him like on of their own, and in the meantime, Caitlyn could attend to her business. For once, things were looking to go their way, even though just slightly.
