Sehr Geehrte Frau Vorsitzende,
It is not often in recent months that you and I have had cause enough to speak more frequently outside of the realms of politics. I trust you will allow me, now, to extend you the most cordial greetings, g'nadige Frau. I hope our two great corporations can enjoy continued mutual benefits in the future in service of our great Volk.
Now, I do not wish to waste your time, so allow me to get to the purpose of my communique today. As you are undoubtedly aware, Daumann's business interests are manifold and far reaching; in particular, the nature of our holdings and interests involved in facilitites such as Ennibreck and Vosswerke, often calls us to make use of very specialist equipment. While undertaking reviews of projected operations requirements, our Inspektorate has determined that we are in need of vessels capable of operating in increasingly, and extremely, harsh circumstances while safely collecting, sampling, storing and transporting potentially hazardous materials.
As a former ship-design and construction engineer, it does pain me greatly that it was not one of my designs most suited, but the Inspektorate as determined that the famed and venerable HWDU-430 "Golem" ALG Heavy Mover is the most suitable candidate for further testing, and likely represents the most logical choice to use as a basis for further modifications.
Accordingly, we wish to explore the possibility of acquiring from yourselves the appropriate permits, paperwork and licensing for the purchase, operation and redesign of several such vessels. Specifically, we wish to purchase One (1) extant hull in order to undertake field trials and suitability tests, as well as the design blueprints, permits, and patent authorizations for the construction of a further Two (2) examples, with extensive role-specific modifications to be undertaken as part of their construction at our classified experimental facilities.
We also request advisement on the procurement of One (1) Mobile Recycler Unit, capable of space borne or facility mounted operations for the on-site recylcing of scrap metals, materials and salvage components. We trust in ALGs many years of experience to furnish us with the appropriate information, and if possible with the sale of such a unit.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen,

My name is Anita Raichert, Director of Shipping for ALG. President Atzenbruck is occupied with an important meeting at the time and wasn't able to respond, and I am writing on behalf of the board of directors.
We are certainly positively surprised to receive a business-related message from Daumann Heavy Construction, as our relations have unfortunately deteriorated over certain political developments. I cannot make any promises on future developments, but a small start may yet develop into a more substantial warming of relations.
As for your request regarding the HWDU-430-class, we must unfortunately deny it. There are currently two Golem-types in operation by entities other than ALG, both of which are close, long-term partners. Our general policy is such that the sale of this type, whether to governmental, corporate, or private entities is only considered for close partners of ALG.
Needless to say access to blueprints, patent authorization, or any other in-depth technical or legal information or access is completely and categorically out of the question; this data is considered a corporate secret on the highest level, which we would not even share with the Independent Miners Guild, our closest diplomatic and economic partners, much less any other entity.
Regarding the recycling unit, we will need additional information regarding the type of vessel to be outfitted, the intended area of operation and the specific materials to be processed.
If there is any other avenue of business cooperation that you wish to discuss, our channels are open.
Thank you for your time, Anita Raichert

Sehr Geehrte Frau Raichert,
While I am certainly somewhat disappointed that you feel you must deny our request, I am certainly not surprised; nor can I find fault with your decision. I cannot say that Daumann does not guard its designs and intellectual property rights any less jealously than yourself. However, we are both in the business of business, so perhaps we can come to some form of compromise? I certainly understand your reluctance to turn over any technical designs - as a former Ship Design Engineer myself I wouldn't want details getting out either! - but perhaps we could discuss the terms for the purchase of one (1) vessel, and contract the necessary modifications and specifications to ALG's own construction facilities? We would naturally be willing to undertake any contractual guarantees necessary to guard your corporate interests and rights, as is proper.
In regard to the Recycling units required; to an extent I naturally trust in your expert advice. In particular, our Inspektorate has determined that these units must be capable of being deployed to far flung areas of operations in a semi-autonomous manner. Furthermore they must be capable of being served by external operating vessels or drones, conducting internal on-board scrap recycling operations, as well as possessing cargo transfer capabilities to haulage vessels.
Based on initial studies, the Inspektorate has indicated their belief that the Colossus may represent a suitable hull due to our long-standing experience and success in construction, maintaining and modifying these vehicles. Other suggested hulls include the Bretonian "Shire" Class transport, or the Bustard Class Carrier-vehicle due to its ubiquity and extensive modification possibilities.
Requirements:
Semi-autonomous Scrapping & Recycling capability
Drone control & External Supply Operations
Cargo storage & Hauler transfer capacity
Capacity for Ship-borne operations
We would be most eager to hear your thoughts on both our proposals.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen,

Guten tag again Frau Raichert,
I am fully cognisant that you are no doubt still debating the merits and details of our previous proposal. However, our Research Department has been conducting on-going field trials to determine a suitable vessel to serve as the frame for our suggested scrapping & recycling facilities. As these test determined a change in the vessel of choice, I felt I should update you as to the team's findings.
Field and Laboratory tests have both demonstrated to our research and development division that the "AS-1300 Retrofit Transport" represents the most suitable candidate to undergo the intended modifications. Therefore, I request that you take this choice of vessel into consideration in your advice, as it would be our intention to mount the Recycler and all necessary sub-systems aboard this vessel - as per the guidelines of our original development plan.
In the meantime, I hope to hear from you soon on both matters I have brought to you. Danke for your Zeit.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen,

I'm Marika Hornik, director of Scrap and Waste Management for ALG. This transmission was forwarded to my department and it seems a substantial delay was incurred by that, please accept our apologies.
While the AS-1300 isn't a model we normally work with for those purposes, it certainly has the potential for suitable modifications. However, this would likely require a total replacement of the pressurized cylinder storage units originally intended for gases, to be replaced by more suitable bulk metal containers. Still, the frame has plenty of space and the bow section could accommodate a disassembly unit with compressors, magnetic sorting and rudimentary smelting equipment.
I have to ask though, what's the intended area and cargo of operation for this ship? We are not necessarily keen on outfitting potential competitors in our own field.

Guten tag Frau Hornik,
I am most gratified to hear that the conclusions of our research teams are borne out by your professional evaluations; there are, after all, few organisations in Sirius with the same history in the recycling industry as ALG. We were certainly pre-prepared for the necessity of making substantial modifications to the vessel, and based on your recommendation I believe this is our best course of action. With your approval I should like to arrange for the necessary work to begin as soon as possible.
To answer your question: As you may well be aware, Daumann has a number of holdings in the far reaches and remote parts of Sirius, including the Omicrons and certain disputed territories on the Bretonia-Gallian Frontier. The sheer distance, and inherent danger of the connecting routes, makes large scale shipments of materials we have been contracted to recover simply impracticable. It is to address this issue we seek to develop a longer term solution that does not involve the indefinite storage of potentially hazardous materials on otherwise civilian stations such as Ennibreck. It is our intention for this project to allow for semi-Autarkic recovery and repair operations of, and around, these facilities. As for the matter of corporate competition: You will have to forgive my bluntness, Frau Hornik, but I have no interest in entering into the scrapping and recycling business, preferring to leave that to organisations such as yours.
