I enjoy the thought. We do need something like this.
' Wrote:Dieter, is MI5 in the following roles - escorting traders, protecting against piracy, helping BAF/BPA - going to actually take away from BPA? Other than contraband issues, these are BPA tasks, and I'd be afraid players would want the "sexier" role of MI5 over being a constable.
Though I didn't think of it, and it is somewhat of a concern, I do believe that the invite-only nature of the faction would remedy this quite a bit. Anyone who just wants to use their power to bully people around in a lawful ship is someone I wouldn't quite want in the BPA anyway, though, I have to say that this isn't quite the case at the moment.
I'm convinced that anyone who would be invited the the BIS would be quite attached to their BPA/BAF in any case and would want to keep their BPA/BAF in addition to the BIS ship.

I wouldn't mind a little RP friction too, actually. Like, when an MI5 agent was around, BAF and BPA might have to watch what they say and do. Kind of like a comissar or internal affairs sort of thing. Would define the faction a little more, and give the enormous BAF RP things to do when no unlawfuls were around.
This sounds exceptional. I can just imagine the RP possibilities of the BAF/BPA having to cooperate with the Agents. The extreme freedom of MI6 would feel awesome, I've always hated having to turn back when an enemy exits BAF territory. It would make for some interesting things to watch as Agents work undercover in other House systems or even cooperate with the local authorities to find and extradite Bretonian criminals who escaped outside of BAF jurisdiction. An Intelligence Division Flagship and capital vessels would be awesome for long-distance or high-danger missions or for incursions into enemy territory for rescue/extraction of targets. A Bounty Hunter Destroyer (I think it's the black one) for example, would be perfect. They could be granted to high ranking intelligence officers who have been serving for a long time. They'd definitely see more action that BAF capships, and could support the privateers in their raids.
I'm curious to know how the MI6 will be able to switch between ships according to the mission/House system. Will they pick non-aligned craft like the Raven or Viper MK II for consistent use or will they have different character profiles with preset ships according to the House their mission is in, e.g. a Rheinland ship in Rheinland space, Kusari fighter in Kusari space, etc.? If MI6 agents are expected to change ships occasionally, it would be more cost-effective to make different aliases or slightly altered character names over the course of time with different House-specific ships and weapons, rather than to buy a new ship and loadout everytime the mission calls for traveling to a different House. I'm assuming that most smart players will have a decent trader vessel account to make some money to support their espionage activities.
Since I haven't yet got my 4 months in, keep me in mind for down the road, will ya?:)I think myself and a few other ensigns deserve a little credit for fending off pirates and villains with serious dedication after all the other BAFers have gone to sleep. It's usually me and one other guy out there, taking names and upholding the honor of the BAF by our lonesome. I remember Ensign A. Goodman is usually fighting the good fight by himself when I arrive to start my shift.
Someone should skin the BAF fighter models in stealth black with a special Special Operations logo for MI5 for the next Discovery Mod update.
*puts on fedora and trenchcoat* Now I know what sort of community you really are. *walks off into the rain*
This has my support:)The idea of MI5 operating more in borders of Bretonia (Magellan, Tau 31 etc.) sounds good, BPA and BAF are already enough for the core of Bret.

I think every agent would be assigned one house or some area, having ship/IFF/ID that fits his mission (better some long-term mission). Switching these would happen only when he completed his mission or his undercover is blown up.
I would like to try out being MI6 agent personally, but since its invite only, my chances are probably low :$
The Admiralty's momentous memo on the cunning creation of a distinctly devilish mob of morse-tappers at this decideldy dark juncture in Bretonia's fortunes is most welcome and has caused my thighs to experience a warm sensation unknown since the first flush of adolescence crept up on my loins whispering "Hullo".
In fact the idea for a Special Operations Executive had popped into my cranky cranium many times in the past, especially during my confounded confinement in that Kusari hell-hole. We have some brave bucks engaged in cloak and dagger stuff behind the slanted enemy lines already - you may recall that chap LeCarre who faciliatated my own velocitous exteriorisation from the clutches of the pernicious prisons of our foe.
Perhaps these daring chaps might disguise themselves in a manner suggesting innocent civilianhood as they espy on the enemy or prepare acts of sabotage.
Needless to say, Her Majesty's Secret Service has a great deal of potential. Ingeniously infiltrating our enemy's rotten ranks and investigating the illicit actions of the many nefarious ne'er do wells in organised crime might be added to their overlong list of dangerous duties.
Therefore it will get a lot of support from our ranks!
Playing within the confines of our BAF/BPA areas/regulations etc. can be a bit limiting and frustrating, so this idea might give some welcome freedom to enjoy.
