The University of Cambridge was the preferred place to hold all meetings as far as Victor was concerned. It was close to home, public, easy to secure and felt like home. His business today was of a slightly more personal nature, another child of Hall. Honour dictated that they be found and protected, and so an agent was dispatched to find her and bring to the University where he and his brother William would meet her and find out if she was the real deal.
William, at this point, had wandered into the conference room, a reasonable sized room with a crescent shaped table at it's center. Open windows on either side of the room gave a stunning view of the surrounding university and city beyond and the brothers enjoyed a private conversation in Rheinlandic before a knock on the door signaled that Hall had arrived. She's outside sir the agent said Not much good out there, send her in he turned to the other two agents standing behind him and William Leave us he said, and they filed out of the room through a back door. He knew they weren't far away, but having them out of sight might be better to calm their guest.
Alex is having a little idea of where is she. Thinking that it would be for the best to not ask secret agents too many questions. This is not looking like any secret HQ or any kind of prison. Or at least they make those look different in Naural Net films. But still, Alex is looking really out of place here. With her cheap and simplistic clothing, simple hairstyle, lack of proper makeup and confused, starry eyes. And now it's the time, one of the agents is telling her to come in. Ward is so scared that even all thoughts have left her.
But, something is making her stand up, and with much stress, she's stepping into the room. Alex is staying close to the door, looking right down into the floor, even being afraid to raise her eyes. The girl is silent too, cold sweat is covering her palms and her hands are visibly shaking. Lips are becoming extremely pale, slowly going for the shades of blue. From what it looks, Ward will have a heart attack any moment now. And even if she was some kind of enemy agent or a swindler, then she's truly the most pathetic one for them to see.
It looks like her knees are starting to shake along with hands. Mother told her not ever tell anyone since she was a girl. She has a fear admitting it, and she does not feel like she deserves that Lastname to make matters worse.
"I am Alexandra Ward, sir. And sir George Richard Hall was my biological father."
At least she had that phrase prepared in advance. It did not make her voice sound any more confident.
"Father and mother agreed to make genetic analysis to..." Alex is taking a deep breath. "To rule out their dispute about whose child I am. The analysis was done at the University of Cambridge, at least so it's written in the document. Father insisted that it should be... classified I suppose. And it was never to see the public. The copy of that file is stored on my Neural Net account, I can download it? Right now, if uh..."
Ward obviously had no idea that is inside of this university at this very moment.
No need Victor said, producing a file from his case and sliding it to William. His brother looked over it while Victor returned his attention to the woman Do you know who we are my dear?
That is us Victor said I'm Victor, this is William
Records are legitimate William said I'll draw up a proper birth certificate and issue citizenship papers. But there is still the issue of... He trailed off.
Victor said You see my dear, before your father died, he paid a great service to our family. A service we appreciate so seriously that you half sister was taken under us and made a ward of our family. Your father looked after our family, so we must now look after his. You, being his legitimate daughter are therefore afforded this protection as well.
"Nice to... it's an honour to meet you?" Ward is nearly exploding from shame, as she has no idea how to reply properly. It looks like she's about to cry.
Ward's brain is working very slowly at the moment and she's starting to realize that everything is good. She knows basics about Bretonian customs but hearing this is very weird. She had a dream of being recognized as his daughter, but those were the child fantasies. And now it's the time of complicated reality where she simply doesn't know how to behave.
"Please forgive me, I don't know. This is all so new and I am completely lost. It's all like a dream. I am super thankful for your help. Oh God..."
Now when stress is pushing her to the limits, she simply collapses on her knees.
