Hello. I haven't had the pleasure of conversing with your Bureau in the past. So this will be the first of, hopefully, many such dialogues between you and I. Out of respect I won't waste your time with any pretentious and idle pleasantry, but I must ask you something. Have you by chance happened to, shall we say, encounter any personnel associated with the Secret Intelligence Services in areas that might prove of interest to you?
I must excuse myself outright for what must seem like prying. But I'm sure you can understand that verification of intelligence is of the utmost importance. After all, Sirius is a turbulent place and for one to ensure any semblance of stability, it pays to be in the know. I trust you won't misunderstand my intentions, seeing as I intend to safeguard your interests just as any prudent business partner would.
Interactions with the S.I.S beyond re-routing them at the Omega border have been close to nonexistent. A few years back we stopped a small group of them running the lanes in Frankfurt without authorization and sent them back to Bretonia via escort. Re-iterating though, there hasn't been anything since then.
Are you implying there is something regarding the S.I.S we should be concerned about?
From,
Kommissar K.L.Laurenz
Büro des Marinenachrichtendiensts, Kommissariat,
Now, I will admit that it would not only be exceptionally convenient for me to respond to you with a yes or a no. But I feel as if I could lend you valuable perspective through what I'm about to tell you. There is a belief among those that have had to endure abuse, particularly those coping with domestic abuse. "If they can do it once, they'll do it again." - It hardly matters what I'm implying, and I don't feel as if the question takes into account just how deceptive the nature of intelligence is. It isn't how many times you caught them, it's how many times you haven't.
Why would that be significant? You might wonder.
Why would it not be? Bretonia has endured a hard-fought struggle against the Gallic Crown. Infrastructure and lives have been lost, attempting to total the damage might as well be a triviality, the count is too high to be without error. Yours is a House rich in industry, industry that Bretonia now severely lacks. As a legitimate entity, and a paraplegic after the onslaught of the Royal Armada, I'm sure the Bretonian Crown understands that it is in no position to wrest anything of value from Rheinland. But it would be naive to assume that they wouldn't try using methods that are distinctly less than legal.
So it should come as no surprise that I have to inform you of the fact that the SIS has seized the Leeds Gate Construction Site. I'll be shortening that to LGCS for future ergonomics. We therefore believe that Bretonia now has the ability to take advantage of the EFL Network and essentially eavesdrop on traffic in Rheinland. After all, honoring thy neighbor is a convenience to be sacrificed in favor of substantial returns. With the context being what it is, this means Bretonia has the ability to steal data and compromise security. Even if they cannot take advantage of such data themselves, it's quite reasonable to assume that insurgents would be sold such information.
So, Commissar Laurenz. When you ask me, a man with a great deal of experience and insight into just how sickeningly efficient a Government can be at getting what it wants, my answer would be that you have everything to be concerned about. Hence why we wanted to know if there had been any recent sightings.
Hello again. Since I've established this line of communications in advance, I will be reusing it for the purpose of offering you information. As an intelligence agency, and one in Rheinland no less, the most ravaged of the Houses after the Nomad War. I feel you'll find what I have to offer you quite.. pertinent.
If you're interested, then I'll expect to hear back from you.
Don't blame me if I'm a little skeptical when it's comes to people handing us information for free, but that's generally the norm that it's a phrase as if it were from a cashier's. How are we to return such an offer, cash, favour or materials?
Although if this is intelligence that you said is important to the fight against the nomads then I'm certain that we can see this goes smoothly between us... What is it that you have?
From,
Direktor Geoff Enfield
Büro des Marinenachrichtendiensts, Oberkommando
What I want in return is quite simple, something of roughly equivalent value. This will be a nice trust exercise as well, because you will have to trust that what I have in my possession is significant, and I will have to trust you to forward equally significant intelligence in return. I have good intentions, but if I'm to ensure I succeed in achieving them, then I simply must continue to collect information that shakes the balance. I have the intelligence secured and ready for transfer.
