"Thank you Bit for your help, I'll be as quick as possible."Martin then rushes at his teams, to grab some isolated tools and isolated mats, to place them on the ground, to prevent any energy release from hurting himself. As soon as it went back to the vessel."Okay Bit, now I'll need you to listen carefully. I'll be cutting the main weaponry's system power supply, as we need to rewire it with much more thicker wires, to increase the energy flow directed to the weapons. So you will not feel the weapons at all." As soon as Martin finished his sentence, he gently put the mat on the ground and put the tools on it. Then he started cutting the wires one at the time, that were making the circuitry, to again prevent that the high voltage directly hit Martin. He carefully started doing it, but then he realised that he could have cut the flow from the breaker itself. Without hesitating, he went to the breaker, and he was searching for the white stripped wire. As soon as he found it, he saw that the breaker was divided in the different systems, so it was easier for him to approach the breaker itself while Bit lowered his power, so the risks were minimum. As soon as he cut the energy flow towards the main weaponry power supply wire, he started took his tools to start taking out the wire. This was Martin's first time doing it under such circumstances, so he was hoping he wouldn't do any mistakes.
After a bit, he finally manages to disconnect the wire from the breaker, and finishes to cut the wires where he started, so he could study the wire and how thicker the new one was supposed to be."You can go now to normal Bit, I've disengaged the energy towards the weaponry system, so we can work now on making the new wires for the weaponry's system. It won't take much."He was going towards his teams with the segment of the wire, while he was thinking on how to proceed.
The powercore instantly begins to power up, allowing Bit to return to normal. For the first few seconds, the ship itself almost seemed to shiver, as it was holding back from something. At that very moment, the powercore began to crack from holding inside all the energy and not eliminating the tension through an outburst. "Thank...G-G-G-GOD I CAN N-NOW BREATHE YOU IDIOT" says Bit with a glitched voice by the end in the old aggressive tone. The Jackdaw calms down, and Bit shows a relieved behavior. "Be careful, I still want to be able to fly, y'know? And take a look inside...I think I cracked something. It's tickling."
"Bit don't worry, the heavy part is passed. Also one of the team here will take a look at you while I do the new electrical system ok?It won't take very much."The teams of engineers rushed to the Jackdaw, so they could fix what was broken during Bit's held outburst.
In the meanwhile, Martin was setting up the new wires and was calculating how thick the wires need to be, based on the power that needs to be transferred to the prototypes. But in that precise moment realized that when he modified the prototypes, he also modified the electrical system to handle the increased power, so he starts using the sizes that were meant for the weapons themselves, then he increases the size of the main circuit.
While doing that, Martin turns to the ship to check on his team"What's the situation there?''Then one of the engineers makes his way to Martin with his pad, explaining him that some energy distribution modems crippled."Replace them with new ones, it's the least we can do."Then he turns to the Jackdaw and clears his voice."Bit, my team is going to replace some crippled pieces, it shouldn't take long. If you need anything else, let me know , ok?'
The Jackdaw seemed more or less silent with Bit mumbling some nonsense. "All good. I don't think anything else is needed from me. I'll just...wait. The last thing we need is-" the voice cuts out for a split second, then resumes with the aggressive, glitched tone. "I-I-I'LL M-MOW YOU ALL DEAD WHEN I WILL HAVE T-THESE WEAPONS U-UP." The voice cuts out again, and the previous, more friendly tone comes back. "Uh, that. I will try to uh, "sleep". Aleviate the outburst tendencies just in case.
"Thank you for your help Bit. My team finished to patch you up, while we here are done building the new wires that replace your old electrical system."Martin was starting to gather all the wires that were needed along side some tools to bring with him and his team, but then he realized, that would be easier to un-mount the current weapons and change the old circuit with the new one, then directly mounting the weapons. So without hesitation, Martin grabbed the pad, and ran a scan of the weapons, to notice something strange."What the...? The weapons are welded the the gun mount?"He stood shocked for a few seconds with the pad in his hand, not knowing what was going on."The only way to remove them is to cut them with lasers."After that, he put his pad down and continued."We need to precisely separate the weapon from the mount, without damaging the weapon, understood?"The teams went to grab the tools to start the process, while Martin was calculating again the new electric system.
His teams arrived with the tools to start separating the weapons from the vessel, and they knew that time was not on their side, as Bit could have another outburst, so using a mechanical arm, Martin's teams, started un-mounting the 5 weapons that were welded and mounted on the Jackdaw.
As soon as they finished, the weapons were sorted in boxes, so when Kyle arrived to pick up Bit, to easily move them.
Martin has already started mounting the new system, by connecting where possible the new wires, and then starting to connect the smaller ones that went directly to the weapons, which his crew were starting to mount on the Jackdaw.
As he was adjusting the electrical system, Martin started to feel much more relaxed, as he started to realize that he almost finished, for him, this new experience, where he put to test his skills, once again.
After not too much, it was completed, the weapons and the new electric systems were fully mounted, and as the last touch, Martin modified the gas injectors that contain Azurite Gas, to not constantly release 10% but 15%, so that the weapon system can be at 100% capacity."Ok Bit, we are done here. You have new weapons installed on you, while we increased the power of your powercore, so you can fire the prototypes properly. Now, you can fire them only two times in one second, understood? Because the weapons have heat sensors, so when they get too hot, they turn off. And to not forget: be careful with them."
A slow clap is heard from the distance, coming towards the Jackdaw. Kyle returns to Martin with several other Junkers carrying a Minified Spyglass Scanner on a hovering transporter."Looks good. Very good, Martin." says Kyle, then turns to the Jackdaw, sighting of relief as the Junkers already begin to do the final adjustments into mounting the Spyglass Scanner. "Good news, Mister Lawrence. While you tinkered here all this time I took the liberty to obtain some things. Oh and, here." Kyle puts a large backpack next to the Jackdaw, containing all the components of an Identification Scrambler. "The Hackers also gave me this. Quite cheap things, but hard to get off them. Nonetheless, Once again I cannot stick around. There is much to do now that I ended up leading my own people in space. The Voltaic Junkers." Kyle leans against the Jackdaw, taking out a toolkit as he pops up the Jackdaw's belly - or rather takes off a fortified hull plate to calibrate something. "So, I'll be leaving soon to the Omicrons. I owe Tarancon a visit after I am done with the Unioners. What about you?"
"Mr.Vaughn, I was about to contact you about the vessel. Just a friendly advice: be careful."Martin reaches in the jacket's pocket for the keys and gives them back to Kyle."I believe those are yours."
Then he turns to the Jackdaw and looks at the workers Kyle brought with him."Voltaic Junkers eh? Interesting name. Also before you go, I know Junkers are specialized in Military Salvage correct? Because I was hoping to cut a deal for some transports for the Genesis; you know, technology is our thing." Martin with a brief smile on his face looked back to Kyle.
Kyle glances over the keys before taking them, apparently, he was all tired from after all this time. Yeah...you can say so. It happed all out of the blue, actually. he says before scratching his beard, closing his eyes out of tiredness for a few seconds before pointing at the nearby window which leads to the outside view. Several small fighter craft: CSV's, Collectors, Recyclers and Border Worlds vessels such as Sabres and Switchblades. Among them was The Black Liner, a heavily fortified Liner able to carry couple dozen fighter craft in its secondary docking bays. All these people under one banner. I am myself shocked...never really expected that so many Junkers would choose my style of life over the boring legal tradesman. Before we get into the business about Military Salvage...I got this little information that the Legacy of Orillion is building...something. I don't suppose you know the answer - since Zoners were mentioned. It could be a toaster factory, some Order washing machines...many things aboard a...big thing - if you get my game. says Kyle, bored as he seems by the end. After finishing the last calibrations, the Junkers park the hovering transporter back on a CSF which later launches in space. Anyway...business...military salvage. What's the catch? Payment? Reasons? What do I get out of this?
"Mr.Vaughn, of course there will be payment involved. The reason is simply we want to study what technology we can get our hands on, of course we don't deal with alien technology. It simply if we can gather it, and hopefully get something out of it.If you understand me."Martin as soon as he heard about the Legacy thing he was in shock. He started to ask himself how is that possible, that Kyle to know about it.So he avoided to answer the question, to not rise any suspicions.
Kyle noticed the awkward silence made by Lawrence after hearing the question about Legacy's Carrier approaches him, almost overly serious, but smiles as he reaches Martin.Ticked you off or something? I expected as much... Just keep in mind silence is an answer too. Usually, I don't take silence kindly, but I'll make an exception. Kyle takes a few steps back, leaning against the Jackdaw once again. So, about this...Salvage. What do you need exactly? I need something more than "we will pay".
