UO containment and additional safety procedures are in effect. Unknown Object is of Nomad origin and has been recovered from a destroyed Ish'Tar class Nomad Dreadnought after a confrontation between Order and Nomad forces within Omicron Delta. The object was initially recovered by the GRG|Neumann but has since been transferred to the Altair for research and containment purposes. GRG Personnel has been provided with access to needed sectors aboard the Altair.
Altair: Arrival
Altair Biometric ID Card
After clearing with Dabadorus Security, Guest Staff will proceed through the Altair's airlock into the first of the ships many white, sterile corridors. Guards at the following Security Checkpoint will confirm the ID and GRG membership of all arriving attendees and provide them with a temporary ID-Card for internal usage. Once everything has been cleared up, guests would be free to proceed to the research sector in the front of the ship or the other cleared sectors.
Altair: Research Sector
The Research Sector is cut off from the rest of the ship by yet another set of security checkpoints, after clearance to proceed has been received, guest stuff can proceed directly to the areas belonging to the project. The Unknown Object is currently stored within a cylindrical containment unit with a large adjacent laboratory fitted with equipment for a variety of tasks. A large number of ORG Scientists and Engineers are already present to maintain containment and monitor the object, the official begin of the research has been delayed until the arrival of the GRG researchers.
Director Taylor is already present at the laboratory to keep an eye on the readings taken from the object since nomad tech has already caused severe issues with the ship systems during its early days. He's currently sitting at his desk which is positioned directly against one of the two windows overlooking the containment chamber, with his eyes locked onto the monitor in front of him. A constant stream of information regarding a wide variety of readings including EM and sound waves given off by the object. ORG engineers are still setting up the sensor equipment while the bridge crew is balancing out the ship's power system to prevent the detection of any anomalies from the outside.
Walking through the corridors of the station along with D-65 heading towards the docking point of the Altair. The droid's steps made a clanking noise echo through the metal corridors with evan's boots barely making a noticable noise. The station's personell seemed to ignore them, aside from the occasional "Excuse me or make way" and sometimes either giving a nod or saying a simple "Greetings". As usual everyone aboard the station has his or her own job and is focused on doing that trying to keep outside interference to a minimum. In the background sometimes you hear someone talking through the speakers either announcing something or asking for a certain person or team to go to a certain position. The two finally reached their destination the airlock leading to the Altair. Three guards were standing near it all of them armed to the teeth. As Evan and D6 approached them they motioned to stop with their hands.
" I need to see your ID sir." Said one of the guards standing at the airlock.
Evan not even answering apart from giving a quick nod reached into his pocket and grabbed his card handing it over to the guard. Naturally they found no discrepancies and allowed them to pass. Reaching the first checkpoint inside the ship. This time the procedures were a bit longer and the guards were even asking some questions but one doesn't have to fear if one has nothing to hide. After recieving the internal ID cards they made their way to the Research sector. Passing through the internal checkpoints. Evan can't help but wonder why the confidence in the human personell. The order most likely has its reasons for its MO but there is a reason he is using droids when dealing with special potentially dangerous objects. Plus droids require no food and no payment. Finally arriving at Taylor's office. Their escort who showed them the ship was kind enough to inform them that Director Taylor is working on the case. Knocking on the metal door Evan took a step back and waited for the door to open.
The door opens the large laboratory directly adjacent to the containment chamber, Taylor is still at his desk on the far side of the lab, just watching the nomad object in its containment. Though after the newly arriving doctor set's a foot into the laboratory, he stands up and quickly makes his way through the lab to greet him. "Doctor Evan Chandler, correct? Sorry for the delay in authorization, we had to sort this out with your command first. You haven't missed anything though, we're still setting up some of the equipment, so work on it hasn't officially started." He points into the room, where research personnel is still scrambling to set up and calibrate the equipment, which was moved here just a few hours ago. "You're the only one the GRG has sent?"
Evan took a step in with D6 following him behind. As the droid stepped in the door quickly closed behind them.
" Indeed that is correct. Good to meet you Director. And don't worry about the security checks. This is my most trusted collegue behind me." Evan takes a step aside so that the droid is clearly visible.
"His name is D6. I hope you don't mind if he is with me. He's not only a loyal companion and assistant, but a personal guard of mine. Not like i think you will do something to harm me. It's simply to make sure that in case something goes wrong during a test with the device or something i'll have someone to trust that is not a human."
The droid simply turned its head towards Taylor and gave a quick nod to him. "Greeting: It is a pleasure to meet you meatbag Taylor."
"Statement: I hope my presence here will not be a burden but in case it is well you can only deal with it one way and that is to accept it, meatbag."
"Please exuse the tone Director, you'll get used to it eventually. And on the other hand to answer your question. Yes for now i am the only one here from the GRG. My ship was moored with Dabadoru just after we handed over the device to you. I'm sure more will come to join us at some point."
Martin was late, as usual.
He arrived to Dabadoru in his personal vessel, a Crayterian Bomber, and odd vessel to be used by a scientist indeed, but he loved those type of fighters.
After he reached the docking bay, Order agents stopped him for a security check, even if he was annoyed by this, he cooperated so they can move along, as he was late to arrive to the Altair, a research vessel of the ORG.
As he reached the Altair's airlock, three men were guarding it, and they requested the ID card. Martin puts his hand in his coat's internal pocket to reach for the said ID, and shows it to the guards.
Then they let him pass and show him the way to the Director's quarters.
Martin has been thinking a lot about this odd object, that was found. He starts to think it might be something similar to the PowerCells, so Azurite related.
After a bit of walking, he arrives at the the Director's office, to see that the door was open.
As that he stands on the doorstep, and knocks."Director Taylor correct?"Then Martin takes a few steps in for the formal meeting."I'm sorry I arrived with delay, but the opening in Omega 5 kept me very busy with managing the transports and so on."
Then he turns to Evan, and it was quite surprised to see him there. "Dr. Chandler, I must say we didn't meet in a long time. When the ORG contacted us about your vessel, I was indeed surprised.
"Not to worry Doctor, I've got my fair share of experience with all kinds of AIs and Robots. As a matter of fact, our flagship - the Horizon - is actually fitted with a top of the line administrative Ai. We've just decided to minimize automation aboard the Altair for security reasons. Please excuse me for a second." He stops to have a quick word with one of the other scientists, Evan can't quite make out what they're talking about, but a few of the gestures suggest that it's about the Droid. A few seconds later he returns. "Sorry again, I was noticing some of the looks that were directed at your companion. It seems that I'm not the one who has to get used to him after all, but that's nothing to worry about. The staff here has been handpicked by me for their ability to quickly adapt to new situations like these." It was at this point where Martin arrived at the laboratory. "Ah, it's good to see you, we were just getting started so you're just in time."
Martin after saluting both men, goes to the glass to look at the object.
It is odd from what he's used to see, but this is his first time interacting with something that came directly from the Nomads. So the curiosity was slowly growing within him."So Director, what do we have here?"
"We're not quite sure. Readings suggest that the object is of similar nature to the Azurite we've gathered from the structure in the nebula, which has spawned some theories that this is some sort of power cell for the dreadnought. But that's all they are - theories. But since the more specialized sensor equipment is still being set up and calibrated... I'm sure we've got a better idea soon. Are there any old IRG archives that mention an object like this?" He joins Martin at the glass, hoping he'd be able to shed some light on the unknown object's purpose.
After the Director mentioned Azurite, Martin took his pad, and started looking for something. As he found out the file that he was looking for, he gave the pad to Taylor."Does the radiation pattern correspond to this?"
Martin turned to the glass again to look at the object. "Do you know how Azurite works, Director?"
Taylor takes a few seconds to compare the patterns from the pad with the one displayed on his screen. "Yes, that's it. I suppose it is azurite then... Though unfortunately, due to recent and not so recent events, we haven't had the opportunity to fully research Azurite and its capabilities. We just know what's in the Orders archives and what little information we've managed to gather on our own." again, he pauses for a second to direct his gaze at the monitor displaying various readings and information regarding the object. "We do know however that it's a means to generate power, a power that we can use for ourselves to improve our technology - and as much as I hate to say it, maybe even our weapons."
