Not really... but basically you're saying you can't tell the difference between a CD or a missile that's fired at you. Right.. Well guess what, that's the element of surprise. The missiles are fine as they are.. they've been slowed down and got a damage buff.

Ive never had a problem seeing them even in jousts, i stay let em be the same.

Maybe it has now that red colour, but its much harder to ditect it from a distence now. And as a result the cd timing gone worse...
Did i made myself clear?
Eh?

Silent, when the cannonballs are fired into a straight line, the red smoke is clearly visible, but when in jousts, the smoke usually isn't visible.
The smoke was reduced from 4.85 beta 1, its not changed during the public beta. But its been reduced because it produced way too much smoke. I have a quad core, 4gig RAM and a 8600GT. And my screen laged when i went through the plume of smoke. Im sorry but alot of people with less powerfull PCs might suffer if they go up much more. But ill increase it a bit and see how it goes. But i realy can see it now. The many posts about missiles lagging i meen.
smoke depends mostly on the graphics card ability to handle the "fill rate". - anyway - a cannonball is at the very least as visible as in 4.84 - but usually a lot more visible than that. - .. smoke vanishes when a certain LoD is reached -
i haven t really seen many people using missiles since the 4.85 beta 1... for me, the smoke vanishes when more than like 6 trails cross the screen - the game doesn t freeze or run choppy then - but it simply vanishes the smoke.

I see that missiles in new mod have more attack, but they are so slow...At my Rh. Cruiser they fly only to one place : NW. They don't go to the hositile Target...What to do with missiles? Sale them?
I got into a fight yesterday with a guy who used his Sidewinders pretty liberally against my bomber. He used the missiles well and I took pretty much damage from them.
Conversely I had the CB and was not able to score as many hits with it. Only couple.
So I think missiles as fine now that the vanilla fragility is gone.
They are not the main weapons I think, but nicely complement the more traditional way of doing battle.
And while I'm not the Cannonball usage master I think I've good fundamentals with it, and this leads me to check out that Sidewinder if I'm going to have a missile in my ship.
About the trails: No problem seeing them. But if you use the missiles right it does not matter if there are trails or not.
