On the 9th day of the 4th month in the year of our lord, 827 A.S, we marked a transition. The reestablishment of the Imperial Government of Rheinland.
For many years, the Imperial Government of Rheinland stood as the crowning achievement of the people. But history would have it that there were those who would try to set us against one another. However, this is to be the case no more. While these have been trying times of late, we have once again established governance over Rheinland space. As we are here today, we stand on the threshold of a new beginning. A new beginning brought about by the desire to change. This change was not simply because of the falling levels of support for the United Democratic Front; It was a stand by the citizens of Rheinland, a stand among rising levels of anger. It was a change that was desired, sought after. It is clear that the trends leading to this had in fact been building up over decades, not overnight. This was a call to action by the people; They were started by deep political and economic shifts that are today changing Rheinland.
With the people's support, we will unite Rheinland once again. As the people's safety and well being are our priority, we are taking measures to ensure that the violence and corruption that plagued the prior parties will never take root. We will establish measures to eliminate the bureaucracy that allowed the movement of known criminal organizations to grow unchecked. We do not seek war like our predecessors, we seek to develop relations with our neighboring houses that will benefit the both of us. Despite the rumors and accusations that have been thrown in the heat of the moment as an attempt to clutch at straws by a failing party, we do not wish to fight you. We have seen enough bloodshed under the rule of prior governing parties; it is a time for peace.
This transition marks a new era. We are looking to exist in peace and security as the successful governing party of Rheinland. For this, we seek your recognition and support. Your support will allow us security in the steps that we must take to return the normalization of life for the people of Rheinland. Your support and recognition will speak volumes in rejecting the violence and bloodshed that had been seen under the prior rule. You will be contributing to peace and stability; and participating actively in shaping reconstruction, economic development and cooperation both within our borders and between your house and ours.
We wish to formally invite the House of Bretonia to re-establish their embassies within the Empire and re-establish ties between our House and yours.
Following extensive discussions within the Bretonian government about the ongoing state of affairs in Rheinland, it has been determined to establish formal communications with the Imperial Government of Rheinland as the ruling body of the Empire of Rheinland, formerly the Federal Republic of Rheinland.
In pursuance of this, the Kingdom of Bretonia will continue to provide ongoing ambassadorial and consular services upon Planets New Berlin, Hamburg and Stuttgart. While the Kingdom of Bretonia does not believe it would be appropriate to comment on Rheinland’s domestic political or constitutional arrangements, the absence of a single governing body which may attend to matters of state is not a sustainable situation.
As a matter of necessity there must be fruitful cooperation between the Houses on a range of critical matters, inter alia, economic regulation, commercial integration and mutual border security. It is considered that the economic wellbeing of both the Rheinlandic and Bretonian people must be safeguarded, and the free flow of goods between our Houses ensured.
As the governmental body currently asserting control over the apparatus of state in all of Rheinland’s core economic territories, the Kingdom of Bretonia must pragmatically conduct itself in offering recognition of the Imperial Government as the de facto government of Rheinland. The Kingdom expects that the Imperial Government will pursue all available diplomatic avenues to settle the current strife amicably, and offers its services should mediation with the Federal Government be desired
