Jean-Baptiste Montagne
Born: 688 A.G.S.
Joined Council: 707 A.G.S.
Born to a major noble family on Ile-de France, Jean Baptiste had a life of wealth and easiness set out for him. During his teenage years however, the talks of the Council combined with teenage rebelliousness made him move to Planet Marne in early 707 AGS.
Over the course of several months he managed to gain the attention of the Council, and he became a member in the final days of the year. Over the course of the next few years Jean-Baptiste mostly filled the role of a courier, often carrying high value information within the movement. During one of these missions he made contact with the Maquis, their rather pragmatic approach instantly got his respect. Because of their rather violent nature, most couriers preferred to not deal with the group, ending it with often Baptiste doing the various runs to them.
However when the Second Gallic War broke out, he remained in the ranks of the Council, serving in various roles, until a combat injury sent him to hospital for quite a few months, and to a lengthy recovery period after. To shake the feeling of being dead-weight, Jean-Baptiste turned to administrative duties, more specifically he became a contact officer between the Council and the Maquis, enjoying immense trust from the latter. During his time however, rumors persisted that several intelligence leaks towards the Maquis about royalist movements are made by him, although even the most thorough investigation could turn up little more than indirect evidence in the matter.
By the end of the Gallic War, he was known as a Council hardliner, although on the more radical side of the organization, and a close ally of the greater Maquis movement. After the end of the war, Jean-Baptiste was disgusted by the Duchy's existence, often remarking that the Council only did half of the job. The criminalization of the Maquis and the Brigands however made him act: he became active in the Republique's political life, often presenting extremist views. Rumor is, that Jean-Baptiste is behind the support of various Maquis cells, although it's more of a suspicion than a confirmed fact, and his years of dedicated service gained him more than a few followers amongst the citizens of the Republique.
