Well, this is my first entry in my personal daily log...
My pall told me to make one, so there is something going to remain if I'm getting killed. Not much optimism at the beginning...
But c'mon man.., you've made it so far already, alive! You are a captain of the newly deployed Liberty Security Forces Archer class cruiser.
After all those trainings, practicing, service as an agent-specialist, deck officer, second in command, I'm finally made it to captain's seat.
I'm happy? Hell yeah!
I'm scared? I have to admit- yes. Not being afraid of death, otherwise, I would apply to the planetary office department, and stayed away from operations.
I'm afraid of letting my men down. I'm afraid of not being strong enough to overcome all the challenges in critical moments.
Training, skills, knowledge, yes... But what I've truly learned during my training and academy years- there is always a human factor. That's it.
"Use it properly, so it shall work in your favor, not against you." That's how we been taught. So this is my worst fear- not being able to see my own limits, and screwing things badly.
But I guess, everyone shares the same doubts from time to time.
"Is I'm up for a challenge? I'm right for this place?"
Well, we gonna learn it soon.
The deployment went well enough. Can't say anything about my crew, only that they are great professionals, and I'm honored to share a ship with them.
Oh, the ship itself...
It's amazing. I guess I can write about it here. This dairy is kept in secret, and only shall be reviled in case of my death, and probably, with death of the ship.
So, the ship is equipped with all modern communication and scanning system for deep space recon. After a while, masking equipment shall be fitted on, so we could participate in missions, where ability to "sneak away" is much more welcome.
Yes, we won't be working in Liberty much. We aren't the navy, after all, or those donut eaters, calling themselves "Liberty Police".
LPI- Lazy Piglets Idling. Well, not every one of them...
Guess I'm off the topic again.
Well, that it. The first day went pretty well. Ship and crew are fine, and I could not wish better. Tomorrow, we shall stay here in Liberty for a while, and have a meeting with our contact person. The guy, who's real name I don't know, but he is a very great agent, probably a living legend shall drop us some info, we need to investigate.
Funny enough, he got this info by playing some card game with a drunk Junker. Guess the guy had no idea, and probably, no chances either.
We shall station our ship at the specially designated position, which is still not known for me, (it's standard procedure, to avoid possible ambush) and set our comms in "receive" mode.
Should be fine, we did it like thousands time already.
After that, we shall check "what inside".
I guess, that it for now. First page done... Hope there is going to be something to write on page 2 and so on...
The pre-mission briefing has been completed now.
We have now coordinates of the rendezvous point with an agent. His callsign is "Pretty Johny". Well, I like it. Not those "Beta-4" or "Gamma-6". No imagination at all...
So the task is simple so far. We shall "wait" behind the Bradford moon, in "Silence" mod. The "conversation" is going to be short. After we got the information, we shall proceeded to coordinates for initial survey, analysis and mapping.
My crew is going to be reinforced with some scientists. If we are to find something interesting, we shall know what the hell is this.
Finally I catch a breath now.
The day was intense one, but it was worth it.
We have "met" agent Pretty Johny. I can say, he is a great actor. For a moment, I though that he was indeed drunk. But if he indeed was. I have nothing to say. But I guess, this man is ready to sacrifice his health and liver in the name of our land. I guess, if the comms could transfer a smell, we would be getting drunk too.
So this is the information:
Pretty.Johny: Oh damn it... Whaaaai I'm so druuunk?
Pretty.Johny: Never...evar gona drink soooo much again!
Pretty.Johny: Doesn't meter anyway eh...
Pretty.Johny: Ama already on way to hell
Pretty.Johny: He-he
Pretty.Johny: Amana away to hell!
Pretty.Johny: Amana away ta hell!
Pretty.Johny: Or how that guy was signing?! uh??
Pretty.Johny: That guy... Who knows hell nothing about cards
Pretty.Johny: Lost me hell amount of mo...money!
Pretty.Johny: Don't go playin cards if ya don't know how to roll!!
Pretty.Johny: And he also told me about a hole he recently found!
Pretty.Johny: Im telling him! I Know a lot of holes where to get my stuff in!
Pretty.Johny: But that guy owned me more maney! And he gave me the caordina-na-tes!
Pretty.Johny: But he told me he newa fly there!
Pretty.Johny: He told me, there are many Xeeenoz there!
Pretty.Johny: And I'm talling him! Ya have no balls pal!
Pretty.Johny: *Burp*
Pretty.Johny: I say, I'm not afraid!
Pretty.Johny: And he say, go to Mi..Midleway *burp* field!
Pretty.Johny: Or how it was...
Pretty.Johny: Me...Me...Mea-devil-le
Pretty.Johny: Ya think I'm not gona there? Uh?!
Pretty.Johny: Ya think I'm afraid?!
Pretty.Johny: I'm not afraid!
Pretty.Johny: Ab-ab-absolutely!
Pretty.Johny: Just gona finish it, and go!
Pretty.Johny: You hear that!?
Pretty.Johny: Eh?!
Pretty.Johny: Where are ya?!
Pretty.Johny: Look at me, when I'ma talking witha ya!
Pretty.Johny: *Burp*
Pretty.Johny: Oh wait...
Pretty.Johny: I'ma gona check one room
Pretty.Johny: Yo stay here, mkay?
Pretty.Johny: I'll be back, and I'll tell ya !
We dispatched to Meadeville ice field right after making sure our information successfully landed on base, not on nearby gas giant.
The field is located away from regular navy or patrol lines, and could be easily used as local hideout for unlawful parties. An increased activity of Xenos has been noted. It is very possible, they might have a stationary base there, however, our attention was grabbed by Jump Hole to Kansas system.
In Kansas system, our scanners managed to identify at least 2 station, and Insurgency activity within those sectors. First base is located near planet Topeca. Second base is not far from planet Wichita. Insurgency activity was low to medium. We didn't encounter any proper patrol wing in this area. We suspect, Insurgency does not classify Kansas as strategic system.
Sciences on board were more interested in planet Wichita. They asked us to descend to lover orbit to have a better picture. The planet is still mostly covered by water, however, our scientist guys stated, that the planet has potential if not for full scale colonization, but at least for deeper researches.
Personally, I was more interested in copper asteroid field within Kansas system. A mining drop-off base was identified within the field. I have two possible conclusions: Either Insurgents are not avare of this base, or they have reached an understand with people who own the base. Im sure, future investigation is needed.
My personal conclusion on the subject are following:
While the system doesn't seems to be heavely occupied by Insurgency yet, I suggest, Liberty forces has to make an advancement campaign into Kansas.
The Kansas system has connection with Pennsylvania system, and judging by the situation, they can freely move into the Liberty territory, and escape, when needed. South escape route is free. Puting this system under our control with permanent law enforcement, would solve this issue.
Another argument for expansion into Kansas- a possible way to force Insurgency into surrender and signing non-agression treaty. They shall remove themselves from California, and shall be out of Liberty territory, causing no future problem.
That it for now.
I need to have a nap before next day.
Agent Lucas Altman logging off.
My first "double shift" as captain of the cruiser. It's a good thing, Forby has nice captain's chair.
Alright, back on a subject.
We have performed a detailed mapping and scouting of the Vespucci system.
I believe I can be honest with myself here in my personal log, by telling that, I wish we had those people on our side. They are geniuses. People who designed and calculated the location of their bases has turned their system into a fortress. If there is going to be a military assault operation into the Vespucci system, I whish neither me nor my friends be taking part there.
Every jumphole in the system is situated within the asteroid field. Transports or light cruisers like Mount.Forbes. can successfully navigate through that system, in case of the well trained and skilled crew on board, however, larger capital ships, especially dreadnaughts or carriers will have trouble flying through it.
Populated planet Veracruz is surrounded by another asteroid field, which is very tricky to navigate through. In case of piloting or navigation mistake done by a capital ship helm crew, could result in significantly slower movement rate or even damages. Needless to say, it's a perfect place to ambush enemy capital ships with bombers.
The planet itself doesn't seems to be well developed, however, some activities still takes place on the planet's surface. I've spoken with scientists, they told, that it is definately possible to establish developed colony on the planet Veracruz, within foreseeable time, in case of sufficient materials and manpower provided. It's a harsh place, I would love to avoid at any cost, however, harsh environment is good for building up strength. If it doesn't kill, it makes stronger...
Another thing worth mention is a yellow colored Guerro asteroid field. A thick field with large asteroids, probably planetary fragments.
Insurgents has a fortified base within that cloud. Our scanners have detected an Arbiter class battleship in close proximity to base. We didn't approach to close to base, to avoid loosing our cover. Those guys indeed has some guts...
Within the same cloud we have also discovered an anomaly, Same one in New York, and one in Omega 3 system.
No research installation was observed in close proximity to anomaly source. I can explain this in two ways. First, and less likely, Insurgents didn't discovered to yet. But I don't think so.
The other, and more likely reason- they don't bother themselves with it. Yet.
I belive, they are perfectly aware of this phenomenon, however, they have no resources to spend on setting up a research station there, at the moment. But that's for now. I guess, they have some long-standing plans for it. It would be unwise not to.
Final few words about Gaians and Cruise liner, orbiting lifless volcanic planet.
Well, Gaians are Gaians. Not much to say about them. Crazy people who deserves being shot when causing nuisance. I don't think they could be useful for us in our war against Insurgency.
A Cruise line, is what I would put my attention. I might be wrong, and there are very "Top" undercover agents operating at that liner, but I'm mostly sure, there is a shady business going around there.
I would put couple of our Informatory agents with "assassination" license on that ship.
