FREEPORT 6 - The Kusari Naval Forces have launched a surprise invasion of the Confederacy of Gallia, in a move that has shocked many. The Empire of Kusari pushed into the Taus and forcibly removed the Crayter Republic from the Tau-31 crossroads, it was expected that such action would cause a protracted diplomatic situation between the Crayter Republic and Kusari.
What stunned many is that the seizing of Tau-31 seems to have been a strategic reason prior to the invasion of Gallia, rather than to clamp down on the unlawful presence in the Tau region. Once Kusari had muscled itself into control of the junction, they quickly moved on to spearhead an attack against the Confederacy.
On the scene investigators have described what amounts to a rapid deployment of large military forces against the Gallic border defences. The Kusari Naval Force outnumbered their Gallic opposition and forcefully ejected them out of the border systems.
The core of the fighting is now centred in the Burgundy and Dauphine systems, the Kusari push has seen little in the way of attempting to fully secure the systems in the wake of their advance. With the Kusari Navy seeming to allow some freedom of travel for Gallic corporations in areas that have been occupied.
The Kusari state has publicly announced that their intentions are to bring to justice those within the Confederacy who are responsible for supporting the invasion of Sirius and the destruction of Leeds. And citing the need to remove the weapons of mass destruction before they could eventually be turned on Sirius once more.
The Confederacy has responded to the allegations stating that they harbour no such criminals, those responsible for the atrocities wrought on Leeds are no longer in Gallia; those who remained are either dead or imprisoned. The Confederacy went on to explain that all such weapons considered too inhumane to use have been removed from their respective vessels and only those found in the remnants of the Royal Fleet continue to use them.
