Dear Ms Raven,

You might not be speaking with heads of governments very often and you probably did not expect the Bretonian prime minister to bother sending you or your little (but proud!) organisation a message. I am not contacting you as a prime minister, but as a friend, or at least I want to be one. It is known to me that my dear father, the late Admiral Sir George Hall, used to work with you closely before his death in battle. I expect that we should at least maintain a collegial relationship, if not a friendship.

I tried to present your affairs with Inverness to my cabinet from your point of view, but they would not see it. Your organisation is intent on violence, my cabinet is intent on violence too, and I do not like where this is going at all. Funds will have to be allocated for this conflict and I had rather it does not happen. You see, dear Ms Raven, the funds that will soon be diverted to the coming conflict with your organisation were meant for something I deem far nobler. After the devastation left by the Gallic attack on Planet New London, many pets sadly lost their owners and places to live at. With great difficulty funds were raised to build shelters and adoption centres for these poor, innocent creatures, by both my government and James Hacker's before it. My cabinet sadly does not see my point. They do not care about pets, they had rather squander this money on fighting. Compassion is why there should be more women in charge.

Bretonia does not actually need Dunedin Station, in my opinion, but we are one of the four Great Houses and we have a dignity to take care about. It is not proper that one issues demands to a Great House, that is why my cabinet's response was such. It seems to me that this is more about pride than pragmatism.

I suggest, then, that you should send the Bretonian Government a message. In that message you should explain your organisation's actions as no more than a misunderstanding and then offer a compensation in return for Dunedin. I believe that my cabinet would agree to simply sell you the station if the price is right and if Bretonia's dignity is mended. Conflicts are unpredictable and this one may come to cost both of us more than Dunedin is worth.

A surprise, least to say. Prime Minister at that! Congratulations are in order.

Come now, we all know that size doesn't matter! And we are in agreement that Bretonia cannot spare the resources or the influence for some random backwater world that provides no value to the House, hmm? Surely we did not hurt their pride hard enough for them to leave their valuable installations left unguarded?

Violence is always the last resort, but sometimes it is necessary to draw attention to the right places. This right place, happens to be a boiling point that will dictate the future of the regions stability. If we were to fail with this, the station will only be another casuality, facing a far worse fate than this discordance.

We - rightfully - have little trust of the SIS, especially after we caught them in cahoots with the Gaians and the Order. We wish for them to be gone. We do not want another potential dagger in our back as we proceed with pest control. Allow me to be brutally honest however, Bretonia has not done squat for this system, Bretonia has no purpose to be here. We do not wish for their deaths or their data, money... whatever else the place may have, but merely their eviction. We have not forgotten the numerous attempts of evicting us from Bretonia, we hold our wounds rather closely and pick our partners very cautiously.

I apologise if all this startles you. We wish for security and prosperity, for which we cannot provide ourselves with that if this theoretical border of half the system is claimed by Bretonia. Perhaps you are correct that offering them compensation will motivate their departure, if not, then... well... I hope they do not give in to pride and endanger the rest of Bretonia.

Should it come down to it, none of it is personal. We will not go out of our way to attack, only defend what we perceive as home. Though our hand may be forced if they go too far. Such is the way of escalation.

We do not find it a coincidence that the Gaians were mostly ... defended. An allegiance with the Gaians is more expected, but we're not taking any chances with their 'secret' encounters.

The cooperation with the Gaians is obvious, but your evidence that is supposed to prove their cooperation with the Order is ambiguous. It is an image which shows two SIS ship and an Order ship being at roughly the same place. Do you not have anything more conclusive?

I am sure I can dig up other material, but our focus here is not justice but protection.

Another time, another concern.

We have our dislikes and concerns for the agents, you have your uses for them, as long as it is not utilized against us or near us, we do not care. All that matters here to us is the sealing of the borders power, it is not feasible for Bretonia to hold an undying grip with the resourceless sector with very little manpower dedicated to the area's cohesion.

I agree with you, Ms Raven. That is what I tried to explain to my cabinet: Bretonia needs money, and if Auxesia wanted to purchase Inverness from Bretonia for money or services, then we would both have something to gain. This way, we both lose. But I am an elected politician who is running a democratic government and there is not more that I can do than hold a speech.

The SIS is not under my direct authority, but under the Ministry of Defence. However, I do have the authority to replace the minister of defence should there be sufficient reasons. That is currently not the case.

I would like to keep working with you, Ms Raven, in honour of my dear late father, and I hope that this silly conflict will not get between us.
