If freelancer runs at any fps other than 144 on my laptop the game screen tears and renders the game unplayable.
After updating windows 10 and installing a new driver, my FL game has once again decided to cap out at 65 only when in play. The main menu runs in 144, the loading screen from 4.87 runs in 144. But the game runs in 65.
This doesn't make any sense. I have re-forced V-sync on in both NVIDIA control settings and recapped the FPS at 144. I have forced off fullscreen optimizations in the games running settings. I have installed a new driver that others claim works fine at 144 fps. I have uninstalled the windows update. Nothing is working.
I'm over FL enough as it is. If this doesn't get resolved I'm just going to uninstall the game. I would like to play because its fun to practice. Any help is appreciated.
One way to boost your fps may also be to lower your resolution. It doesn't answer why it lowers, but it may be an option. The lower the res, the better your fps will probably get. I played at 800 x 600 for years just to get 60 fps on an older laptop.
It also depends if you are viewing through a monitor/tv and what frequency that uses. Odds are any autocap is to spare your graphics card from over exerting itself. If you can change your monitor frequency to higher it might raise the fps, but could strain you graphics card.
