Hi there,
I recently introduced my friend to disco, we got it up and running and got online by following the tutorials for running in Vista, all seemed to be going swimmingly.
After the most recent server crash he cannot connect properly. He has updated and has played since the update was released, but most recently he clicks on the server, its gives its 'please wait' message and then drops out. When I'm in game I see the message appear with my friend as a new player, and then about 20 seconds later another message saying he has been kicked for possible cheating. This keeps happening and we dont know why.
He is not running any other mods, all firewalls etc are disabled and he is running via the updater as an admin.
Any help with this is appreciated.
Also, he seems to be getting a pretty consistent ping of between 80-100.
Aboout 50% of the time it lets him into the character select screen, the rest of the time it doesnt .
And finally, he seems to be getting on the US server just fine, even though he has a ping for that of about 150.
MY friend just stated that he managed to log in for all of three minutes before being kicked off.
He states that he did not receive a notification that he had been kicked for cheating, merely that the connection to the server was lost.
On the times that he is able to log into the character select screen, he is getting the same problem when he tries to create a new character.
This is all a bit strange as he is logging onto the US server without a problem.
At the time of the crash at the last point he was in-game, we were both in space in o-49, heading towards the Dublin jump-hole, then the server red-lagged out.
Since then he hasnt been able to get back online.
We've followed all the steps in the Vista tutorials, including disabling IPv6. He doesnt have any of the anti-virus programs listed either.
If this is perhaps a problem with his character, or his account having been banned for some reason (he is not getting notification of this), then his character name is SS.Black_heart
It might be worth him creating a new character and seeing if the same thing happens. If it does and your friend has checked everything what about his router or ISP perhaps? Can't really think what else it could be.
I have exactly the same problem, but on xp windows,I get the same message as your friend on all chars, and I think that this is not related with windows. It doesn't matter what windows are.
I have tried everything:Shutdown all firewalls(windows firewall and router firewall) and antivirus.
Checked everything in router options that could be a problem,nothing...
It works fine on Discovery USA.
I don't know what else could be the problem...
Oh,yes and there is nothing to do with being banned.
When you are banned then you get a clear message"You are banned from this server".

Yes,I am telling you,I have tried every possible thing that was mentioned on this forum and nothing worked.
I have contaced one of the admins but it seems that he can't help either.
I know at some point I read about a faulty node in eastern Europe that was causing connection problems. Sorry I dont have any details on this really. You might want to PM Kordd, I think he handles all the complicated network goobilty gook.

Well it could be, but then my friend only lives about 30 miles away from me, so given that I can log in and he cant, I dont see how a problem in eastern europe could be preventing him and allowing me.
