I hope this from the frontlines message finds you well - your name have made quite the resonance around more progressive parts of society of Kusari, your lobbying of peace initiatives did make you a noteworthy figure, and many express their sentiments in hope of your voice of reason being heard by the officials.
For now, Kusari Naval Forces find themselves in a tedious stalemate standoff with now assembled Confederal Defense Forces - that are assumed to be the largest Sirius sector military, and ample of them have prior experience from decade-long Gallia's invasion.
To narrow it down to the essence - blitz the military command had hoped for have failed, and it is only a question of time until the tide of battle is turned. Tokugawa-class battleship with command of which i was entrusted, Yamato, will be shortly departing back to Kure for emergency repairs due to the damage sustained.
Once that is done - i will pledge my loyalty to you and protecting your domain from inevitable retaliation of Gallia.

Peace, being the distant dream it is, comes inevitably, and goes hand in hand with justice.
Cursed be the war.
拝啓徳川さん, (//"haikei Tokugawa-san" - Dear Ms Tokugawa)
It pleases me greatly to find understanding among the ranks of the kaigun, kokoro yori arigatoo (//I wholeheartedly thank you). This war was overall a mistake diverting the resources of the Empire from development of its own assets to actions resulting in antagonising our possible partners and leading to losing in a few battles the assets we have been working hard to create for years.
I managed to reach out to some Gallic representatives in the early stages of the war and tried to find the understanding regarding the future peace. It looks to me that the Gauls are quite open to the idea of peace yet it is our government that is warmongering in this war. Now with both sides entrenched, none will back down out of principle. Giving up openly under the current agenda would mean losing face for the government of the Empire. This is something they do not want to happen. However, I tell you with full certainty that should we pursue the path of peace as a move from the opposition the government can save its face by showing wisdom in agreeing to alternative point of view while ending this useless war thus gaining popularity among the strata of the society already tired of endless conflicts starting from 813 A.S. 一石二鳥 (//isseki ni chou - "to kill two birds we one stone").
Unfortunately, this plan will require time, patience, and consideration from the government to listen less to the Navy in the field of politics. This is yet another reason why we do not need the post of a shogun at all as an atavism of the past. If you have clearance to return to Kusari core words from the front, your assistance will be very much welcome. Firstly, there is increased activity of unlawful elements trying to exploit the lack of the naval forces for their benefit. This endangers the civilians no less than the war if not more, and it is our sworn duty as the political opposition to ensure we practice what we preach by prioritising internal affairs. This said, Tokugawa-san, I hope you can dedicate your skills and sense of duty to the Emperor and Kusari to protecting our home systems from the growing unlawful menace.
Secondly, right now a team of researchers aboard the flagship of Shumamori clan, "Zuiryu", is observing systems suitable for colonisation and adjacent to the borders of Kusari. This is in line with peaceful expansion by exploration and colonisation initiative that I suggested in my recent work. Another trusted kaigun-no-daisa (//Navy Captain) Okamoto Yoshirou aboard "Hakkoda" is assisting me in the matter. One of the systems temporarily named "Sigma-63" has potentially habitable planets and we are not investigating ways of how to get to the system for further exploration. In the future if you are not bound by any standing orders, I will be glad to see you assisting us in this endeavour.
As for my domain - I own a castle and some adjacent land on Haneda island on planet Honshu. - it is not big enough to require protection from space but I certainly would welcome the
offered protection from skilled navy officers. Safety of my native Honshu is especially dear to my heart and it pleases me to see people ready to contribute to its safety.
I hope luck favours you on your way to Kure.

Whispers of concern and discontent are heard within the ranks of advance force - concerning the vague and fragile reasoning to ensue that uparalleled act of pointless warmongering. Many of the officers observed major inconsistencies in what have been laid out and presented to us as truth in first instance and reality, with every battle it becomes more and more apparent.
Next generation warships of the House our fleet have advanced into under the excuse of Confederal Gallia possessing weapons of mass destruction is a fraud. A fake so convenient due to existence of the Enclave, the remnants of the pro-Royalist gallic forces entrenched in the Herbides. Since the beginning of the war they have been observed working with the Confederal forces on multiple occassions, but their honesty is hardly believeable. Our intelligence suggests that two "Valor"-class battleships have taken position at Quillan, effectively flanking our supply lines and leaving a major hostile force behind our lines. I do not believe into their honesty and it seems to me they have their own interest, but if they decide to keep their disguise and interfere with our forces in the retreat - this is going to cause ample trouble.
This war has it's right to exist, it is just being fought in a completely wrong direction, with reasoning invalid.
With you i have to be honest: i am one of those characterised as groomed for war, my family's loyalty to the Emperor have been unwavering for centuries. However, your value to our nation is to not be underestimated: with your critical mind and progressive ideas you may be the much needed voice of change to the course of Kusari to improvement and focus on actual issues, but that poses a threat to you personally. It might be the case that your ideas are not appealed to but considered an obstacle to the ruling class.
Your death will be of little use for our future, and i would prefer you to have a viable escape route should it come to the worst. Yamato will have quarters ready to accomodate you and your relatives should you choose to tighten your security.

Indeed, I understand the reason why some people seek war against Gallia, to avenge what the Gauls have made to Kusari. Still, waging war will not remedy the problems our House is facing now, including consequences of Gallic occupation. Even the Enclave, however, should be of little concern to us due to being entrenched in deep Taus. Teikoku (//the Empire) is too weakened now. Our economy, military, and overall population has not recovered from countless conflicts. What we need right now is stability and policy that would give the people certainty in tomorrow. War, of course, is not a method for this.
Your belonging to bushi (//warrior) is of no concern to me. There shall always be stalwart defenders of Kusari and they shall always enjoy due respect of those they swore to protect. My father and his father also were cadre military. I have respect for those who chose this way of life. Everyone has to do his part for the Empire in accordance to ikigai (//a Kusarian method for choosing one's trade in life). Your offer of protection is flattering and I will keep it in mind in case of unforeseen actions of the government. Still, I would not expect the current imperial leadership to chase me after my vocal opposition as I violate no laws. Besides, such a move against a koshaku (//marquess) relative to the imperial dynasty would cast shadow on the legitimacy of the government and raise eyebrows among even those who are indifferent to my political position. Nevertheless, I hope the offer will be standing in the future. For now, I am safe aboard "Zuiryu" and my family back home in clan castle.
Right now we should stay vigilant regarding any negative developments back home, and vocal regarding our position on the war. If you feel the urge to share your position and you are not bound by non-disclosure contract, I can arrange you appearing on All Honshu Network (AHN) where I have quite a lot of acquaintances and who often give me the public channel for discussion. In any case, I believe I will be seeing you soon and am looking forward to it.

A simple saying suggest a man to hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst; vocal opposition tends to voice opinions appealing to the hearts of common people - the very same opinions that linger in their minds, but are never heard, an individual so insignificant can only do so much. Unlike you - a figure much more notable for the Emperor.
On the wave of resonance your words caused and your support would naturally increase... regardless, should the worst case scenario be enacted in your regard - Yamato shall stand as a stalwart insurance of safety yours - and your family.
I am not much of a public figure myself, but i and ample of my colleagues, whom i have left back on the frontlines share sentiments on that war; if my interview to All Honshu Network will help to bring across that opinion - i might as well attend that interview.
