With a little luck, mining should be working as well as it ever has. Specifically:
- The random banning of people for mining is fixed.
- Omega 52 scrap field banning problem is fixed. It's safe to go there, at least until the SCRA catch you.
- Everybody that was banned by the 'glitch' have been unbanned.

Now all us Desers need is some variation. I was thinking of trying Silver mining in guess where and shipping with plentiful transports to some distant place for decent profit, trading back to Pueblo, and repeating. But considering the goings of Silver in even those distant places, and the the yield for Silver not being any better than that of Copper, and all the chemicals required to extract that Silver, there is no real reason for us to mine Silver instead of Copper.

It feels boring, but maybe the Xenos have just been a little too complacent recently.
