Greetings,
Good Evening. I received a comm about Some of your Marshals and the fact that they ignored any call for help from an Inspector John Natas as well as he feels they may or may not be corrupt. I felt it would be best to reach out to you as this could cause some issues if its not addressed. I would not want to cause any tension or issues between the two of us. Now I am more then willing to work with you to find out what has been going on.

Chief of Police,
I am Edmund Mallory, Deputy Director of the Liberty Marshals Service. I am sorry that our first official communique must be about such a pitiful topic as the conduct of Inspector John Natas. Let me briefly describe yesterday's events.
A detachment of marshals was rendezvousing in Manhattan orbit when a freelancer, callsign Rusty.Old.Screw, undocked from Newark Station. The freelancer appeared to be well acquainted with Marshals Service Director Nazumaki and struck up conversation with her. In the course of that conversation, the freelancer mentioned having been an associate of the Lane Hackers in the past.
Now, being a former associate of a criminal organization is in and of itself no crime. The wording of Section 3, Liberty Law is quite clear in that regard. Nonetheless, Inspector John Natas, who was present at the time, decided to harass the freelancer over the matter. Natas ordered the freelancer to cut his engines and insisted on handing out a fine. The freelancer, while clearly upset with the situation, did not display any hostility towards the inspector. However, the freelancer did repeatedly fire his maneuvering thrusters, which Inspector Natas apparently concluded was reason enough to engage. See the full comms logs provided by Natas himself.
The freelancer did fire the first volley. Only, however, after Natas confirmed over comms that he would engage and only after declaring it to be in self-defense. The fight that ensued resulted in several stray shots striking Albany. There was no deliberate attack on the station.
As officers of the law, it is the Marshals' first and foremost duty to uphold the peace within Liberty, which is why we attempted to mediate between Inspector Natas and the freelancer. We hoped we could bring the fight to an end without having to open fire ourselves and did, luckily, succeed. The inspector's allegations against the Marshals Service are, of course, entirely baseless and outright insulting. His behavior, meanwhile, was reprehensible and a clear example as to why the Department of Justice has reactivated the Marshals Service to begin with.
We are more than happy to cooperate with the LPI - such is, after all, our current primary objective. We will not, however, assist secondary LPI officers in their complete disregard of professionalism, duty, and competence.
I hope this matter can be dealt with quickly. I would advise an investigation into John Natas' conduct and disciplinary action. Blatant abuse of the law and wanton endangerment of assets in orbit over Manhattan should not be the modus operandi of the police.
If you have any further questions, this channel will remain open.
Regards,
Edmund Mallory Deputy Director of the Marshals Service
