Noam Fourfall never spoke about his childhood - he didn't have a family to speak
of - orphanarium just doesn't make for good small talk stories. As far as he was
concerned, his life there consisted of books he read, and he read through almost
every waking hour of his time there. Up until he was 16, he discovered computers
at that time, and they became the second great passion of his life. He was alone
in his world, and enjoyed every second of it. That continuted up until some code
he wrote was found by Ageira Technologies headhunter. They didn't even bother to
set up an interview - he was hired on the spot. He would pay to be using all the
hardware they had, given the chance, so he accepted the position rather eagerly.
In the company, he was "the wizard guy". You had a problem, he could fix it, but
usually he didn't have the time to, taking care of problems higher up the chain.
That said, he didn't have any formal education in the field. He was a literature
student with a lot of spare time. Ageira Technologies was just the perfect place
for him to be, and the quality of his work made the higher-ups bear with his odd
literature passion. If he wanted to, he could have been paid several times more.
And then it all came down. It was a slow day, he was looking through the network
for something interesting to read - and he found it allright. It was interesting
enough to make him a wanted man. It was interesting enough to make all available
records about his very existence to disappear in a series of freak accidents. It
was interesting enough to get people he talked with on that day killed by mercs.
So when you're having a nice drink with him he declines to tell you what it was,
dont't think he doesn't like you - it's quite the opposite - he wants you alive.
He was down on luck, out of money and out of friends - save for one professor at
the university he was studying on. And good old Ducky couldn't help him, anyway.
So he decided to join the Lane Hackers. If anyone could use the information Noam
found, it was them. He stole a ship and fought his way out. He's trying to get a
hold of the Lane Hackers, and struggling on with his new way of life. If he robs
you, don't put it against him - it's just that in all likelihood, he needs money
much more than you do. So there you have it - Noam Fourfall, the awkward Hacker.
