Department History
Liberty Police Incorporated is a private for profit company. In the words of Detective Kim Bailey: LPI is sanctioned by the Liberty government so we have legal jurisdiction, but the bottom line is about money. The Vice Department aims to stay true to the purpose of LPI, and uphold the company's virtuous purpose - to make revenues and profits soar. The company relies on supply of criminals and illegal activity for funds in terms of fines and cheap labour for their factories. The recruits are taken from former government police officers, but also civilians, bounty hunters, disgraced Liberty Navy officers and thugs that are willing to further the cause of the company.
The Vice Department has no interest in killing or harming criminals outside of their factories - Rogues, Xenos and others are vital suppliers of profits and money. They prefer to issue fines, using any extent of the law to force people to pay them. Vice actually wait for the Government agencies to make the arrests so they then pay for the transfer of prisoners to LPI's factories, and pay the LPI for housing them to boot.
In 828 A.S. the Former Liberty Vice stand alone squad was absorbed into Liberty Police Inc. Main Company.
Department aims:
Profits for officers and the company alike by any means necessary.
Issuing any fines possible and obtaining funds by various means.
Assisting Liberty Navy, LSF and other agencies in arrests of criminals, to gain cheap slave labour in LPI Factories and make the government pay for it.
Vital bases of operation
Liberty vice seeks to uphold the noble work of their LPI predecessors. Their factories are vital for their work. As Sergeant Conrad Gernale, LPI put it many years ago:Even though the name of our company uses the word "police" in it's title, I'm more of a factory manager than a law enforcement officer. I'm more concerned with squeezing all the production I can out of the miscreant workers here. Usually they are more inspired to work if I hold back their Food Rations for a day or two. That always helps boost productivity.
LPI Sugarland
Sugarland is a smelter worked by prison labor that operates around the clock to re-process scrap from the Texas and New York debris fields. Death rates are high, and needs for free labour supply are ever present to keep the LPI's profits from the base up.
LPI Huntsville
A factory with production of textiles and other goods using mostly free Xeno prison labor for profit. In words of one of the officers on board: This is more of a corrections area for LPI than anything else. We are most concerned with keeping the prisoners here and putting them to work once they arrive, not necessarily catching them.
Various consumer goods manufacturing plants
As officer Kevin Kay says: LPI is almost like two companies: you got the LPI that police Liberty space and run the Huntsville and Sugarland prison ships, and then you have LPI the consumer goods manufacturer making all kinds of products using captured criminals as their labor force. Various consumer goods are produced and sold by the LPI. The slave cheap labor keeps the most notorious of the consumer products production running: Sunbucks Coffee and Donuts.
Another Lemon faction that goes dead in the next 1 week.
Why are people so eager to create their own factions instead of joining the current ones... you guys will have more factions then players in a few weeks...
Not one of my factions has died. Ambition is the enemy of success! Well besides my 1 faction that does have ambition and is now an OF with massive plans.
I feel like there just isn't a LPI faction where my character could go unfortunately - LPI does try with some vanilla-esque RP from time to time, but seems like standard cop stuff more often. This is for people that don't want to feel pressure on logging but want to play sleazebag for-profit corrupt cops with other guys that want to do the same.
An LPI faction that cares enough to look at its source material and emulate the dirty and filthy aesthetic of a private police that rounds up the innocent and homeless to turn a buck for the completely exorbitant lifestyles of the Liberty elite that constantly displaces people from their homes and outsources the local economy thus causing all these issues which in turn feed the LPI?
How dare you.
But jokes aside it's nice to see that being a semi-regular trend with some factions these days. I can only hope you stick with that cohesive vision rather than dabble in parodies or change the formula that we know would work best with the game's universe.
