Hey.. I won't lie, I havn't been to Gallia on any of my characters. Not even my junker- He's mainly a scrap collector rather than an actual smuggler. So on any of my characters, even my indies I've not felt the need to go to Gallia- after all they are advertised as a dangerous new house on the neural net. Now I'm not shamed by it, or proud of it. I'm sure it's a great addition to discovery, but I've been pre-occupied with school and my other characters.
Now, I've been talking with some friends about creating a Gallic Royal Navy character. It seems like a more interesting faction to me. What I'm unsure of is whether or not Gallia role play has already been driven in one direction or the other before I've even set a foot in the systems! I've seen a lot of council diplomatic postings and the sort, and I was unsure whether this is setting the foundation for gallic roleplay when it's still in the beta or not. I've done some readings on the backgrounds but I was wondering would it be worth creating a character in what already feels like a late coming to the conflict? Already I've seen many player flying gallic ships, or carrying gallic id's outside of gallia. Is this just Oorp nonsense right now?
If it's not too late and is worth it, could anyone direct me towards the group of GRN players?:)

The GRN as far as I know is going to be hostile to just about everyone else in Sirius. Since the core Gallia systems are not released yet there isn't much for GRN players to do yet so there aren't a whole ton of people playing them. Quite a few people have one, but aren't flying it regularly.
The Council is making friends with everyone so I would expect that they will be seen in other parts of Sirius, but the Royal Navy is blocked by the Council and as of yet has no routes out of Gallia to enter the other house systems.
Yes, please join the GRN, my council group needs more people to fight with, I'll look up the thread later.
Any Gallic activity (equipement + id's) past Orkney is OORP and is sanctionable. Now if I saw someone in the taus I probably wouldnt report them but that's just me. Omicron-80 is probably alright as well for council I would think.
In terms of role-play It is not saturated at all yet. Most people are going by the vanilla, the .85 vanilla that is, as they should. No unofficial faction can make diplomatic accords on behalf of an NPC faction, all the diplomacy that is happening (which I haven't seen too much of really) is between player factions only. Anyone not in those factions can choose to disregard it.
Ok, so it's seems I was blowing the horn too early. I can see what you mean by saying that it doesn't represent the NPC faction which makes sense. On the path of making a new character, are there any suggested topics or areas where I should read the back story of gallia?

I think the best thing for you to do is make a character and just go up there and dock on every base you can find, read all the lore that there is to read in gallia, then go about and make your real Gallia character
I only really have one issue with the place, it's that it can be hard to get around depending on your faction, due to the way that the system control is split up
System control~
Orkney-> Council-> GRN-> GRN-> Council-> GRN-> Omicron 80
Other than the pain of traveling around those last two systems, I like the place alot
As for background research I think you pretty much have to go there, or use an infocard viewing program...
Oh and as for the difficulty of travel, yeah, that's true, I kinda like it though, makes you really think about the RP and makes the conflict in Gallia feel very real.
Oh, and there is a JH between those last two GRN systems, dont know how in RP it would be for them to use but considering they have no other way of getting their other than going through a council system....
Lots of new bases to visit, new things to see and do.
What you're not missing:
Lack of rumours and bribes on all bases (I know, I know its a lot of work).
Those BLOODY GRN bomber patrols that seem to be everywhere.. (I wouldnt mind if they stuck near lawful Gallic bases and lanes, but they are almost everywhere..)

If you haven't been there, you're missing out. It's a nice system with some very good $$ making potential. I make regular runs there. My suggestion is to bring something rugged with a nice armor upgrade package on it. And yes, for those who will allow you too, try making some friends. They can and will come in handy.
