This is Caitlyn Woods, Captain of the Wood’s.Voyager. I’ve decided to start this logbook, because we’ll be having some big days ahead of us and I need to keep this documented.
We are planning to explore Uncharted space. Remember that Alien Jumpgate inside Kansas’ Tuttle Creek Nebula? We’ve sent a drone through that, and the little data we got back indicated a full solar system with several planetoids. So, the only reasonable decision is, of course, starting a full expedition *light chuckle*. All Crew got full medical checkups back on Manhattan. All that we’re waiting on now is the Voyager itself. It’s currently stationed on Ames Research Station, where it’s scanner array is undergoing maintenance. It already got a structural checkup on Baltimore, so we should be good to go when the Voyager is finally released in a few days from now.
A slight worry is our protection. The Voyager isn’t exactly heavily armed, and who knows what lies behind that gate. I’ll put up some listings to hire some Bounty Hunter or Freelancer who is willing to follow us. We are also planning to take some drones with us for planetary surveys.
I am also worried about how these Auxesians are going to feel about us doing this. They were very protective of the Tuttle Creek Nebula when we were there examining the Anomalies, and even had us sign a NDA to not tell anyone about it. I’m not going to be contacting them about this project of ours, since I’m certain they are going to decline, and after that they’d be on the lookout for any potential intruders. We’ll just have to sneak by them I guess.
We’ve got a big problem. After doing further scans on the Alien Jumpgate, we discovered that it would not be able to safely carry a ship the size of the Voyager. It seems only ships of up to the size of Fighters and maybe Freighters would fit. If we tried to force our way through, the ship would likely get crushed to the size of a tin can. I should have expected something like this, considering that the Jumpgate already looked heavily damaged.
I have come up with 2 alternatives:
We send a fighter carrying a Hyperspace Matrix through the gate and jump after it. This would require acquiring another ship (a Bustard being the most likely candidate), since a Corvo cannot mount Jumpdrives.
We ditch the Voyager alltogether and go through on Fighters.
Both of these options aren’t ideal, but there simply doesn’t seem to be any other way.
Option 1 is pretty much out of the question unfortunately, since we wouldn’t be able to get the funds for both a Bustard and Jumpdrive.
That leaves Option 2 as the only realistic choice, but also as the most dangerous, since we won’t be able to enjoy the relative safety of a larger ship.
I will have to sleep over this and decide if we can go forwards with this endeavaour.
