How do you turn this damn thing on? *thud* Doesn't look like that... oh, it's on. Good.
Anyways, uh, Ship's Log, whatever today's date is. On my way back to Liberty after bouncing around Bretonia for a few days. As always, glad to be leaving Bretonia, although I have to admit that there's some nice profits to be made even with the war going on. Think I need to start looking at hiring a couple crewers next time I get a ship. Sure the Rhino's nice, and sure I could probably handle a large ship on my own, but let's face it: it can get damnned lonely out here on the trade lanes. One or two fellow traders could make it a lot nicer to bounce between the Houses all the time.
Haven't been having trouble with pirates lately. It's a good thing but makes me wonder how much longer I can manage it. 'Course, asking a trader with a Rhino and 100K to his name for a 2mil fare isn't going to do them much good. 'Course it's not going to do me much good either if they decided to give me a taste of vacuum. Anyways, no point in thinking too much about that.
*sigh* It'll be good to be back on Erie again. Much as I like the stars, there's nothing quite like dirt under your feet and a wind in your hair. Hmm... maybe I could fill one of the spare rooms with dirt and put a fan in. Might be worth thinking about.
Well, here's my first stop. Need to refuel and resupply before the final haul.
*thud* Now how do I turn the damnned thing *static*
Second log entry, Kell Brenthes, captain, Errant Venture. Finished the run back to Erie, paid the rent for the next few months, and thought about buying a new ship. Don't really have the creds yet, and there are decided advantages to flying a small ship. Almost got stopped by a pirate on my way back into Liberty but apparently he saw I didn't have much cash on me and let me go. Thinking of applying for a Trader ID next time I'm out. Be a bit more respectable next time I come back this way.
Got a wave from an old friend earlier today. Says she's living up in Kusari and invited me to drop in if I'm ever in the system. Might do that after I make a last run into Bretonia. Have a shipping contract I'm needing to fill. Then I'll think about bouncing up into Kusari, either that or visit Rheinland. Well, whatever I decide to do, I'm hoping I won't have any pirate problems.
They're almost done loading me up here, time to start back down into Bretonia. Next time I record, I'll be headed to either Kusari or Rheinland.
Third log entry, Kell Brenthes, captain, Errant Venture.
As good as the old Rhino was, this second-hand Camara is wonderful. DSE sure knows how to build a ship. Managed to make enough on that last haul into Bretonia to add some guns as well. Boy have they come in handy. Was ambushed by some Rogues and Xenos heading towards Kusari and actually managed to space a few bandits and escape. Dropped the pilots off at the nearest police base and used the reward to make a few repairs. Those molecular shields are worth every cred I put into them. Was actually able to sit and wait for the trade lane to come back up and exchange fire with the Xenos without taking much damage at all.
With the Camara's extra cargo space I should be able to turn a profit most places I go now instead of having to hunt for the best deals. Makes life a little easier. Speaking of which, stopped off at Freeport 6 and registered as a Independent Trader. The ID was expensive but worth it, I think. Certainly has made it easier to buy in bulk than it was before.
Haven't found too many good bargains yet, but I'm looking. Worst comes to worst, I'll grab some H-Fuel and run it back down then head over to Rheinland and try my hand at the diamond trade.
Almost to New Tokyo, so I'll be cutting this one short. Sure is beautiful in this region.
Fourth log entry, Kell Brenthes, captain, Errant Venture.
Been quite an eventful time since my last entry. Got pirated several times, helped run some guns (legally) into Rheinland, and bought a new ship. While profitable, I've come to realize what it is that I like about Rheinland: nothing. Absolutely nothing. I think I'll stick to Kusari and Bretonia when I need to get out of Liberty.
Oh, and about that new ship. Armored Transport, a third more cargo space than the Camara, flight controls are twitchier than a junkie a week off Cardamine. I've never been motion sick before in my life and the way this new ship twitches about on autopilot just about had me running for the head a couple times. Either need to find a way to tone it down some or else get used to flying manually until then next upgrade. Bah! Even as I'm dictating this, my eyes are still twitching back and forth trying to keep focus. Better black the windows before I try hauling passengers or else I'll have some redecoration done on the walls.
Looks like I'll be heading back into Bretonia next, then swing up into Kusari for a spell. Might make a run into Rheinland if I need the cash.
Fifth log entry, Kell Brenthes, captain, Errant Venture.
Where oh where to begin? The blasted Xenos cost me a fortune when they blew up my ship and a hold full of Plutonium bound for Philadelphia station. All I have to say is, if you're so concerned about contamination, why the blasted blazes do you blow up a ship full it the stuff? That's just asking for contamination!
Anyways, a passing caravan picked up my pod and took me to the nearest station where after a lengthy, ah, discussion with the insurance agent, I was able to get my ship replaced. Went back and made the run, successfully that time, and used the profit to buy a transport. My goodness how much a difference it's made! That little old Rhino was a tin can compared to this beauty of a ship.
But, since you can never be too careful, I recruited two escorts to follow me around on runs and keep the pesky pirates at bay. Starting to regret it now. Both of them have a knack for getting lost/distracted whenever it's time to move, and the one's suddenly developed an interest in trading. Think I might start my own shipping company in that case, hire both of them to help get it running. Need to come up with a name, though. And find clients. Maybe charge a fee for delivering guns and equipment to people, or running, ah, clandestine cargo. Dunno though. Might not be a market for such a thing.
Oh, almost forgot. Spent a couple days before hiring the knuckleheads running around the rim worlds. There are some beautiful sights out there. And Nomads. Lots of Nomads. Managed to shoot one down before I had to run like crazy to get out alive. Think I'll stick to Bretonia and Kusari if I want to go exotic anymore.
Well, about time to launch and keep going on the current run. Might post something on the Neural Net about that business idea, see if anyone's interested.
