Investigate anomalous distortions of space and time at Gironde (Tau-23), presumably a consequence of the sabotage of Languedoc Jump Gate 744; Find military or industrial use for the anomaly.

OBSERVATION LOG

Clots of unknown energy, not subject to the physical and spatial laws of our world: emit a strong gamma radiation and with increasing density of formations unite into an anomalous zone, which eventually undergo entropy and disintegrate, without leaving any traces after themselves. In a short time, during entropy, it is possible to extract readings useful for studying the nature of the anomaly.

Anomalies do not react to attempts to influence any kind of weapon other than an ionic weapon, due to which the only way to "defuse" them is to be exposed to a directed flow of ions, which causes the anomaly to collapse. During the collapse, we register unstable space readings, which may indicate that the anomaly is metastable matter, the accumulation of which disrupts the metastability of the formation.

DEPLOYING PROBES

After nearly two weeks of observations, it became apparent that the data we were getting from our several L'Astrolabe probes and sensors was not enough to get more accurate data on the effect of anomalies on space-time within the zone.

Hexagon-like zone with 42 verticals should spherically cover the boundaries of the anomalous zone, but the computing power of L'Astrolabe is not enough for this - to help was called Aurora, which will deliver probes.

SPACE BUBBLE

Data from the probes shed light on the nature of this anomalous zone, as well as its interaction with the outside world. Let it sound like madness - but it is a pocket of space; inert to external influences except for anomalies, which are leaks of matter from within the pocket. Perhaps the pocket was formed as a result of the collapse of the tunnel between the gates at the moment of their sabotage, when the vessel passing through it was ejected along with the bubble within which it was blocked.

The probe sent inside managed to transmit images of the empty, filled with a kind of fog space - it was impossible to extract the probe back, but it is possible to maintain radio communication between the zone and the outside world, although the signal will periodically loop and get lost in time, breaking into fragments.
