Their relationship was slow at first, but with time it's picked up significantly. Anna Heinrich: Isaak thinks the exact opposite of his mother, at first being reluctant to believe that his mother could even support or have a child. Being a former protege for his mother - Anna Heinrich - the two quickly connected when Lukas first heard of Isaak. The two keep in touch loosely, but still often enough to count on one another. Victor Steiner: The man responsible for revealing his family history had a significant impact on his choice to continue his career for the Bretonian Armed forces. The two have been out of touch with the sudden disappearance of the Steiner family. Freyja Engel: Isaaks guardian has since relinquished her claim to his well being. Though the two still keep in touch, Isaak has insisted on remaining in New London and serving his newfound home.
History -- Origins
Isaak Luciano Heinrich was born on planet Gran Canaria into the care of his parents - Anna & Lucien. Isaak took his mother's surname out of fear that he would be hunted if his father's past demons ever caught back up with him. Isaak's recollection of his parents was very limited; he had less than a year's worth of memories. Their faces were the only things he could faintly recall by the time he would be reunited with them both.
In early 813AS, Corsair mercenaries had traced Lucien's whereabouts to Gran Canaria. Lucien's family were considered thieves and traitors to rival Cretan families, as a result, the Marquez family was almost completely wiped out. The mercenaries, however, didn't expect was to find that he had settled down with a family. Instead of taking them all captive, they attempted to kill them right there and then.
Isaak luckily had wandered outside the tenement where they lived when the Corsairs had arrived. Figuring he was either hiding or had been hidden away, the mercenaries left explosives to destroy the tenement. The explosion inside Anna & Lucien's home that would have killed Isaak had done no harm to him at all. Unfortunately, by the time he could wander back to find out what had happened - Lucien was kidnapped and Anna had been shot and left for dead outside of the apartment. One of the locals that treated Anna upon her arrival - Freyja Engel - took the young boy fearing more Corsairs would come back for him and left for another settlement.
Isaak initially didn't struggle to move on, his memory was distorted at best. Freyja had adopted him and schooled him as he grew up.
History -- Childhood
The two had settled near a small starport, and like his mother, Isaak was drawn to the idea of flying and working on different types of spacecraft. By the time he was fifteen years old, he had begun working on different types of spacecraft, mainly fighters and transport freighters. Freyja did her best to hold him back from actually flying until he was old enough to live on his own though - fearing he might sneak out of the settlement on some reckless adventure.
By this point and time, Isaak had started questioning his family history a bit. At first, he was very direct with his guardian and tried to get a straight answer, but Freyja was reluctant to share the truth with Isaak. Knowing she'd cared for him in the years following his parent's "disappearance" he refrained from putting more pressure on whatever mental wound it left Freyja with. Ironically, the same time he had come to terms with forgetting about his family history would be the same time it would change his life.
History -- Bretonian Armed Forces
By 826, the Cold-War dispute between the Coalition and Corsairs on Gran Canaria had reached its peak. The instability and fear both groups created on the planet had left a bad impression on Isaak. When the Bretonian fleet arrived that same year promising stability, Isaak saw them as heroes more than conquerors. Having scared off both unlawful elements and encompassing the Planet in their territory - Isaak had the opportunity to join their ranks and see the world outside of what was now Exeter.
Freyja was a bit worried about the concept, his mother had already left a cold and dark impression on the world, but she figured the odds of Isaak's history being unearthed were slim to none. She was wrong, DNA tests and records had matched up the bulk of personnel applying for the Armed Forces flight school from Exeter, but not Isaak's. His surname, the time of his application, and Red Hessians laying waste to the H.M.S-Gwent on his mother's order that same year - left him under a microscope immediately upon the beginning of his flight school attendance.
Isaak's performance in the G simulation, flight simulations, and navigational assessments were unlike any in his class - or any at all. The "curse" that spanned the entire family back to the 80-year war had once again laid claim to another Heinrich. This also proved to be the final nail in suspicious elements, upon Isaak's commission he was immediately investigated by the former SIS Director - Victor Steiner - for his family background. All suspicions rose to their climaxes when Isaak was unable to fill in the details on his own.
History -- Like Mother like Son
With the investigation being spearheaded by the former SIS Director and former fleet Admiral - Isaak had no real breathing room or a way to avoid confronting Freyja for the truth. Victor and Edmund Steiner did just that, in their presence, Freyja had no option but to tell them the truth.
Everyone's reaction to the revelation about Isaak's family was the exact opposite of what Freyja had expected. Victor and Edmund knew there was more to the mystery-at-the-time, and Isaak needed to understand what had happened to his mother. Reluctantly, the brothers allowed Isaak to pursue this line of thought, and Isaak was handed off to the oldest of the Steiner brothers - Alfred Steiner. Alfred - being a Cambridge University professor - was given the opportunity to meet with the Red Hessian command first hand and record their way of life and training.
Accompanying Alfred, Isaak witnessed his mother as one of Bretonia's greatest adversaries; his impression of his mother quickly fell in line with the collective of the BAF. Embarrassed and ashamed, he made little to no effort to uncover what had happened to his mother since then.
Isaak's career climbed faster than he could keep up with once he had abandoned his search. With the training provided by the BAF and his own abilities - his name quickly climbed up the chain of command. He had been most notable flying in Edinburgh and was promoted as a result.
History -- Reunion
When Anna fled the Red Hessians in 827AS with Lucien, they both made an effort to find out of Isaak was still alive. Hearing Isaak's name triggered a sort of memory relapse for Anna that allowed her to break free in the first place. Lucien was the first to uncover Isaak's existence, and the two ended up meeting as soon as he could arrange. Isaak and Lucien clicked very fast, Isaak hadn't learned much about the Order other than their actions during the nomad war - which were heroic at worst. Lucien explained the situation between him and his mother, and how they were living on Curacao. When offered to meet face to face with his mother, he refused - citing his experience on Vogtland and his mother's history in the years that had passed.
Lucien pleaded his mother's innocence in the events that had happened, but Isaak was too stubborn to look past it at the time. The whole idea of his mother being "brainwashed" seemed too far-fetched for him to believe. He left, still keeping in touch with his father, but rarely speaking to his mother other than for her own sake.
