Cortana looks at Iris when a little smirk crosses her face. Well, they do pack a punch, I made them after all. She bursts out in laughter again trying her best to contain it.
As Iris had a bit more of a serious expression on her face Cortanas eyes started to sparkle as she glances upon the so-called Obsidian ship. Her mind started to race when she looked at the various components and the blueprint. What a truly amazing ship. I have never seen something quite like this. She looks at the blueprints again and takes a few sips of her rheinbier. I do have a few ideas in mind and thanks to the connections I and my family have we should be able to account for sufficient technological upgrades. Yet, I have to say that I can't offer it to you cheap at the moment. I'm really busy with a lot of projects so the price would have to be right.
She looked at Cortana while she showed her the schematics; her face changed to an intrigued expression. Iris started to think about those vessels being a rare sight around.”This is not exactly what I had in mind for a replacement. This is rather...a second one.”
Another one down. She was thinking when was the last time she drank like this. But somehow she was enjoying her company, and was also curious of what she could offer. Then she waved the bartender for another one. ”Now, let's say , you can actually pull off what you have in mind.”She stops for a second to take a sip from her newly opened Rheinbier.”Maybe, I can pull something off to pay you accordingly.”
Then she stopped. Took the tablet, and went to search yet again for something. But this time she didn't want Cortana to see, so she tried to keep a somewhat distance from her, to not raise any suspicion. ”Really depends on what you have to offer. If it meets the standards or exceeds it, we can talk about a payment.” Then she looked at Cortana and smiled. ”What do you think?”
She looks around and scrolls down on her notepad. She pulls up a few encrypted folders and opens one at a time. You see Iris, I usualy don't offer such services to people I just met. But I'll be blunt with you. My family and I are somewhat of a centralpoint for blackmarket products.
So first of all, you would need more firepower. When I look at those ships I would think about something more exotic. Maybe some adapted cannons and blasters would do. She closes the files and shuts her notepad down.
For the rest of the systems I would offer you a costum solution. I currently work on a core that fits regular fighter ships. Its not finished yet, and it would be experimental but you would be able to harness twice as much power as from a regular ship core. That is what I could offer if the payment is right of course.
She looks at the files with much interest. Even for the fact that she did not understand much, somehow Cortana got her interest.”I'm no engineer, but I like your ideas.” She stops a few seconds to think about her next phrase.”If you can convince my team of researchers, then we can talk about a deal. They should be able to tell me if your stuff is actually interesting.” Then she changes face, as Iris thought Cortana might get offended.”It's just, better be safe than sorry....you know.” And she continues drinking her Rheinbier.
That should be doable. Trust me I know all to well why you want to be safe. I will just have to say I will not reveal my actual blueprints to your engineers. I will explain it to them and maybe a few pieces of the blueprints. As you said better be safe than sorry.
She looks around one last time to see if there was anything suspecious happening. While she stands up it can be clearly seen that she is wearing a robotic prostetic arm and for a short while a blade can be seen shimmering through the robe.
Just one last thing before I leave to prepare my data for your engineers. If there is given any reasons to suspect that you would betray me or my family we will sevre all ties. I hope you understand that. With a slighty more sinister grin she grabs her notepad and nods towards Iris pulling her robe over her head again. I will contact you soon with the data.
”That was of course implied.”
As Cortana sat up from her chair, Iris noticed the phrostetic but decided not to say anything. The blade that was almost coming through the robe was, it seemed like Cortana wanted to take a stance.
Then a sudden change in Iris’s voice occurred. ”Look, I have no interest in going in your turf. As long as it does not affect me or my associates.”
While Cortana was about to go, Iris stood up and looked at her. ”Oh. And don’t forget those weapons.”
As she walked away, not quite sober, she smiled.
