For decades the Bering system has been recognized as the hub of the Unioner movement. It can be safely said that the heart of the system is considered to be Pacifica base. Most Unioner operations are prepared and controlled from the base by the Direktorat of the Unioners. There is no shortage of reasons why the base is so important to the Unioners and why they believe it should be protected at all costs.
However, with the increasing presence of the Liberty and Rheinland navy, Bering is no longer a safe spot as it used to be. Countless military patrols are passing through the system, endangering Unioner supply lines and spying on Unioner operations in the system. The Direktorat won’t tolerate such danger, so they have come up with a plan to eliminate the main source of those annoying flies patrolling around the system; The Hamburg gate.
A gate, just recently, constructed by the Libertonians, in an effort to reconnect the two houses was finished not so long ago. The Direktorat believes that if the gate is destroyed, the presence of the military in Bering with decrease drastically. For that reason operation Phoenix was approved and set in motion by the Direktorat.
>>PHASE 0 <<
The Direktorat launched the operation with the full approval of all Direktorat members but they still didn’t have any idea on how to execute it. With the, what would be considered a random, encounter of the Feas, the plan was a bit more certain. The Faes offered their help with taking out the gate and they began with the construction of explosives.
While they were building the insides of the bomb, The Unioners were given a list of materials that needed to be used while building the shell for the explosive. They quickly ren into their first obstacle when they realized that most of those commodities were only sold by lawful vendors.
Without access to lawful markets, they had to improvise, and quickly the opportunity arose with the presence of Mercenaries who were in need of ships. In exchange for ships, the mercenaries would offer their services to the Unioners.
In a week's time, the mercenaries had delivered all the commodities to the Pacifica base, and construction could finally begin. The workers unpacked the cargo and put it in place for the engineers and welders to do their job.

Putting the parts together was easier than obtaining them so luckily the harder part of the construction was dealt with.
>>ATTACHMENT: Lead Engineer's log:
“This is Rolf Stein, lead Engineer of Project Phoenix. So far so güt. We’ve successfully made a model of the shell and now we will proceed with mixing the materials to acquire the best possible combination to sustain the bomb’s explosives. Titanium will be melted and mixed with Tungsten in a one-to-five ratio resulting in a mixed metal that is highly resistant to temperature and possesses high tensile strength. This should contain the insides of the bomb until it’s detonated. The inner layer will be covered with a coat of plutonium which should increase the bomb’s blast capabilities. I think the boys will carry out the orders well and we’ll be done before midnight. Log terminated.”
Everything went according to the lead engineer’s predictions. The workers put together the shell within eight hours of work and headed off their shifts. When the night shift began, the engineers fitted the casing with an electronic cooler that would make sure that the container temperature would be regulated properly. Should the bomb need to be detonated immediately the cooler would be remotely turned off and the bomb would be triggered. Now that it is all done we only await the explosives in production by the Fae.
