Rising Tensions Between Bretonia And Rheinland
OMEGA-3 -The fragile peace over the systems of Omega-3 and Omega-7 is at risk of devolving into an all out war between the Kingdom of Bretonia and the House of Rheinland. With the end of the Civil War in Rheinland, the House once more looks outwards, with many fearing the new leadership may choose war over diplomacy -- as has happened in Sigma-21 years prior.
Rheinland's interest in Planet Sprague - A basic guide -Ahead of the conflict over Planet Saigon, the Dark Matter storms that engulfed the Munich system -- a border-system of Rheinland, in close proximity to the Omicron region -- ravaged Planet Nuremberg, leaving it as a mere inhospitable rock in comparison to the prosperity it had enjoyed previously. The Dark Matter Storm forced Rheinland to relocate most of the citizens, with only a handful choosing to remain planet-side, to other planets within its borders. However, the already-colonized planets were densely populated and thus Rheinland look for an alternative.
Their leaders turned their attention to Saigon, and, in the following months, made a lighting attack into Sigma-21 in an attempt to force Kusari into surrendering the system. Despite suffering high casualties, neither side backed down and eventually agreed to return to pre-war status, with Saigon left uncontested.
Another candidate for such colonization by Rheinland is Planet Sprague, in the Omega-3 system. The Kingdom of Bretonia has been strengthening its presence in the system to counter exactly such another war from taking place, however Rheinland Military leadership has looked to violate the agreements set prior with the government of Bretonia and has entered Omega-3 in an attempt to test the Armed Forces.
What do the incursions mean for Bretonia? -With the Rheinland Military poised to make the first move -- one it already has completed, with multiple skirmishes reported at the border -- the Armed Forces are preparing to respond in an equal manner. The Battleship Norfolk, along with reinforcements from New London, are currently undergoing military exercises in the Cambridge system, while a spokesperson from the Armed Forces has said that the volatile situation is expected to change rapidly within the coming days.
While government officials have thus far said that no incursions in the system of Omega-7 will take place, the BBC reports that a total of 4 confirmed attacks by the Rheinland Military have been reported on Bretonian military vessels today. A further public announcement of the Rheinland Military has also stated that "the Omega-3 and 7 systems are too unstable to allow passage in the following days" in a move to validate their entry in Omega-3 as mere peacekeeping and "saving the lives of Bretonian people".
Scientists and representatives of Bowex -- the main Bretonian corporation operating within the system -- have already commented the news release and confirmed that no significant changes have occured within the Omega-3 and Omega-7 systems. The Fleet Admiral has also stated in a short press conference earlier today that the Armed Forces will provide an ample update on the situation due to the high number of incursions of Rheinland combat vessels in the system and that they will respond to the incursions by increasing the size of the garrison within the system, as well as saying that they will take into consideration striking back within Omega-7.
Could the conflict escalate further? -While the situation is quckly developing, neither side appears eager to use the opportunity and cause a large-scale war over contested space. Rheinland has not yet made public any claims to the Omega-3 system, however the incursions point that such a move may take place only at a later time. For the time being, both sides are preparing for a prolonged small-scale conflict -- one that will not result in war but further help justify such acts for House Rheinland in its search for a new planet for its colonists and displaced populace.
What are the consequences of these skirmishes? -Both Rheinland and Bretonia possess a battle-hardened military that has taken part in years of conflicts. The direct consequence of such skirmishes is the increase in contracts for BMM and Daumann respectively as well as providing for a chance to develop new combat tactics. With the two sides seen relocating units to adjacent regions, the conflict risks to develop into a prolonged border dispute.
The indirect consequence of this small conflict is the increased control of Bretonia over Planet Sprague. With Rheinland wanting to colonize the Planet for their own interests, the turbulent region will receive more attention from the New London-based government as a move to consolidate power over Sprague and counter all influence Rheinland has. The location is also a favorable one due to the climate of the planet itself and its proximity to Rheinland itself, allowing for it to be both a prosperous economical center and a significant military deterrent to any invading force.

Bretonia has turned her eye on the Omegas once again. Should I remember what happend in Omegas two years ago with the Aland Crisis and both Gwent and Stirling losses. Rheinland Will not be tollerate with you!
Geez, I feel like I'm having some sort of meta experience. They can't get enough of being the bad guy? Why can't people just get along?! I'd go talk some sense into them like I did with Liberty's Akhetaten, but I'm afraid of Rheinlanders. They always sound like they're angry...
