Guten tag,
Captain Gustav Geiger of the Kaiser-class cleanup and transport ship ALG-Zeitz reporting in. I have brought the requested Food Rations to Bruchsal Base in the Frankfurt system and offloaded the crates. During my transit I have had to deal with many broken trade lanes but thankfully no hostiles were met.
However, I was hit by a large stray asteroid on the way between two disabled lane rings and while my shields took the brunt of the damage, I was launched off course by a fair distance. The cargo had been quite solidly secured in my hold so no damage was incurred, but the same cannot be said of my poor dashboard bobblehead companion who is now broken beyond recovery. He will be sorely missed but his brother will replace him shortly.
Dashboard recording and computer log of my arrival attached, along with the signed proof of delivery paperwork.

Guten tag,
Captain Gustav Geiger of the Kaiser-class cleanup and transport ship ALG-Zeitz reporting in.
I have made two trips of Ship Hull Panels to Bruchsal Base in the Frankfurt system and offloaded the crates. The trip was quiet and uneventful. My new bobblehead rests happily on the dashboard. The person in charge of receiving the second shipment seemed grumpy, but nothing too aggravating.
As with my previous report, the dashboard recording, computer log of my arrival and the signed proof of delivery paperwork have been attached.

Guten Tag,
Saebel here. Just got back from the Cologne system after completing the requested preliminary survey of Planet Saarbrucken's orbit. The trip went well. No threats were encountered, despite the system's frontier security standards. After a brief stop at Wuppertal Refinery for refueling, I have set a course for Saarbrucken.
On approach to Saarbrucken. Past this damaged trade lane ring, a large debris field reveals itself.
Initial sensor readings picked up a large number of objects of varying sizes in the planet's orbit. Their composition (mostly beryllium, aluminium, and titanium) indicates ship debris of battles past. Upon closer examination, the debris field was confirmed to contain several ship hulks in varying stages of decay, a derelict space station, and a remnant of a defunct trade lane. In addition, many smaller fragments present a minor navigational hazard. Their sheer amount makes cataloguing them a task outside the scope of the present mission, but an initial estimate puts their number at hundreds of thousands.
About to enter the debris field. Planet Saarbrucken is in full view now, and it's not looking pretty. ALG Waste Management and Reprocessing Division has their work cut out for them.
Some of the ships in the debris field appear salvageable. With luck and some repair work on their critical systems, they could be dragged to a shipyard and put back into service. Alternatively, they could be scrapped for parts.
This Valkyrie-class Rheinland fighter was discovered on site. Like everything else here, it shows signs of battle damage but appears relatively intact. Attempts to rouse the ship's power plant have failed - a critical component must have been destroyed in the battle. A partial log recovered from the ship's datacore shows the fighter was taking part in an engagement against a Red Hessian squadron. After a brief dogfight, the ship took a hit and the pilot ejected. There are no signs of his or her fate.
Of particular interest is the derelict space station. Cross-examining its profile with our databases confirms it to be Tholey Station - once an outpost of the Bounty Hunters' Guild, it was captured by the Red Hessians in the Rheinland Civil War and later destroyed by the Rheinland Navy. It is difficult to say whether it could be restored to full functionality as a military outpost, but its wreck could be a source of useful materials for any colonial ventures on Saarbrucken's surface.
The remains of Tholey Station. Sensors show that the station has been stripped of many of its components before it was destroyed by weapons fire, suggesting the civilian evacuation and subsequent Red Hessian occupation did not go without consequences. A recovered log confirms several instances of looting did take place before the station's destruction. More distressing, however, is the station's population record, which is higher than the number of people evacuated from Tholey prior to the Hessian takeover. The implication is that a small number of Tholey's inhabitants were left behind and ended up captured by the Hessians. Their fate is unknown.
Another large derelict is a Red Hessian Vidar-class battlecruiser. The plasma scarring on the hull and a number of breaches are mostly superficial: the ship appears to have been disabled by a lucky shot to the bridge. Still, the power core and life support are non-functional, suggesting critical systems failure. The weapons have long been stripped. The aft section is mostly intact, and the ship's engines look repairable. This makes it a potential hazard: if a wreck this large was deorbited into Saarbrucken's surface, the impact would annihilate a city.
This dead giant is just another drifting monument to the ones lost in the Rheinland Civil War. I was unable to recover any logs or personal effects from the ship.
The planet Saarbrucken is ill-suited for colonization efforts. Though nominally habitable, the failed attempt by the Red Hessians to colonize this world shows that extreme preparation needs to be taken for a successful colonization effort. Even in such a case, it is unlikely for a potential colony to become profitable within the span of a generation, possibly several generations. However, the debris around the planet itself could be of use to the ALG, if a recovery operation was being considered. It would remove a serious navigational hazard and serve as a springboard towards expanding ALG operations in the system.

Guten Tag,
Saebel here. As instructed, I have departed Bochum Depot to run scans on the remnant of Dortmund Station. Although I never had the chance to work onboard the station (it was destroyed prior to my joining the corporation), Dortmund was once a well-known installation in all of Rheinland. The remnant is located just off the trade lane junction between planet New Berlin and the jump gates to Hamburg and Stuttgart systems, a very advantageous position from a business standpoint. Unfortunately, this exacerbates the problems that arose from the station's present condition.
On approach to Dortmund Station. The ruptured waste storage tanks are immediately apparent, as is the detached crew module.
Even as I exited the trade lane, the instruments showed an increase in radiation levels that couldn't be written off as background emissions. Upon approaching the station, the ship's computer sounded a radiological alert. It appears that most of the waste that awaited reprocessing in Dortmund's storage tanks has leaked out into space when the station was scuttled and is now undergoing radioactive decay without any form of shielding. This is undoubtedly a hazard for ship traffic in the heart of Rheinland.
Scans confirm high concentration of radioactive material, as well as a number of other toxic pollutants floating in the station's vicinity.
Curiously, there are traces of tampering on the station's hull that suggest previous salvaging attempts. Whether it was Rheinland government forces attempting to recover ALG technology or independent freelancers looking for something of value, the fact is that much of the same waste that leaked out into open space has contaminated Dortmund Station's interior far beyond levels considered safe for human habitation. It is unlikely that these scavengers had any success.
This damaged crew module is completely separated from the rest of the station. I have managed to recover a data storage device that somehow survived the station's destruction. It contains the log of one of the station's engineers. The last entry reads:
"Today marks the last cycle of Dortmund Station's operation. We've evacuated whom we could, but the Imperialists have blockaded the station and are beginning to board now. We cannot repel them. The order to scuttle the station has been given. We've just finished removing the safety overrides. In a few minutes, the main reactor will melt down. Dortmund Station will not fall into the hands of the enemy. The dream of a new Rheinland, free from tyranny, will not die here. Auf Wiedersehen, brothers."
The high radiation levels forced me to end the mission early. I remained long enough to complete the scans specified in the mission parameters. I am attaching the results to this report. I also collected some samples in a secure container for analysis. Perhaps the specialists at New Augsburg Outpost can figure out the best way to deal with this case.
With the samples secured, I arrive at New Augsburg Outpost. This ship will require a lengthy decontamination session.
Conclusion: the ruins of Dortmund Station are unlikely to yield a significant profit in salvage. Nevertheless, they represent a significant enough danger to ships taking the trade lane from New Berlin to Hamburg and Stuttgart, as well as the nearby Rheinland facilities. More importantly, it is a danger that will not go away any time soon. In addition, because of the station's historical significance as the primary facility of ALG, there may be a lingering expectation of it being the ALG's responsibility to clean it up. Therefore, it makes sense to show at least some level of commitment to securing the leaking contaminants from the station's wreck. If we could approach the Rheinland government for a cleanup contract, this could be an opportunity for some good PR with Rheinland's citizens and a chance to mend some rifts in the wake of the Civil War's end.

Guten tag,
Another run to Bochum Depot keeping the base supplied. It is still critical for the Dortmund clean-up operations. Crew moral has been good, awaiting next mining operations.
We encountered quite a few ships near New Berlin, including an industrious freelancer with a Hessian prisoner in their hold, we assumed from supporting the local police efforts to establish order.
We've attached the related discussion below, to demonstrate further escort resources available if required for our transports in Rheinland and elsewhere.

[28.08.2022 17:40:54] Harsha: Are you from Rheinland?
[28.08.2022 17:41:17] ALG-Weiter.Schrotten: Ah our neighbouring house. I swear a bit more distance between houses would likely prevent most of the dramatic violence
