The thread title is extremely misleading, as it gives the impression that you have Microsofts blessing to make a sequel...which you do not. It would be helpful to make it clear that what you want to make will be a strictly non-commercial product.

If you got it in you to spearhead something, go for it, but don't start out by employing bait & switch tactics please...it will always do more harm to your desired project than good.

Yes, this sequel will be made with a free game engine called Panda 3D, and if completed, it will be ENTIRELY free.

So how many programmers do you currently have? For a project this size you will need a LOT of help.

At the moment I have too many other commitments, but I wish you luck. I may look in on you guys in the future when I have more time.

Don't get me wrong... i doubt you can use the name "Freelancer 2"

but we can most certainly use aspects of it and story and give it another name... i think it would be fun.

This Mod is more like freelancer 2 than anything else will ever be... and I don't think you can really call something freelancer 2 unless microsoft gave up every single right to the name and content etc.
