Foreword <div align="right][font=Times New Roman]4/28/2009

Okay, so lets this striaght first and foremost before the trolls lay into me. This is a conceptual design, and a work in progress. That means that in its state right now it is not a ship submission, and this is not a ship submission thread. I'll deal with that bridge if and when I cross it.

What this really represents is my own personal wishes and views for the development of both the Liberty design style and the LSF as a soverign entity removed from the Navy. Its long been my feeling that they should and would operate with their own independent technology, especially as times progresses from the events of 800 - 801 AS.

Now given that through the development of 4.85 and waning days of 4.84 The Order were flooded with ship submissions, Gunboat, Bomber, SHF, Carrier, and even recently a new LF. This sparked my thinking process, The Order are a small organisation, with limited resources offset by their access to more advanced technology and a more submissive network of spies.

Simple enough reasoning; If the Order can manage it, why not the LSF as well? They both operate in a similar nature, covert and guarded with access to more advanced technology than any ordinary citizen would expect. With that in mind though we find that the LSF have very little to their name, borrowing most everything that they employ from the Liberty Navy.

My first development on this was actually an Assault Frigate design, those of you who have seen it will agree it needs some work. But it was the design principles that I employed in that model that I've carried over and refined in this one. Its not perfect, and its definetly not complete. Complete enough to share though, and considering I haven't posted one of my designs in a long time I felt a little teaser might be in order. With that said I'd like constructive and intelligent feedback.

If I see anyone bickering because "Liberty already has enough ships!" I'll have it removed, thats not what this is for and I've already addressed that matter for the time being.

The Model

As it stands now its nearing completion in my eyes, but that doesn't mean anything. Anyone who's ever worked on a mesh, drawing, painting, etc knows that done is never done. You can always do more, but thats a little irrelevent right now.

Construction was done mostly through polymodeling in Autodesk 3ds Max 2010, work time is around two days give or take some sleepless hours. Multiple objects were employed and the coordinated to create a seamless shape. Before in-game testing though I'm likely going to combine and methodically attach each somponent. I also haven't checked for back facing or done any optimisation/reduction.

Current numbers put mesh at:

3,814 Polygons
4,546 Vertices
12 Objects

Its as of yet unnamed, but Skylight sure is sounding nice to me...

First of all, the ship looks very good. Not as Liberty-like as I'd have expected, but I guess that was your point, right? As for the class, I'd say this looks more like a HF.

As for the name, Skylight? I don't know, I doubt it'd really suit well with an organization like the LSF. I'd have suggested snake names now, but Xenos already got that spot. Meh, can't think of any right one.:P

Actually, the Xeno's have the names of insects. Scorpion, Black Widow... Which is fitting because most everyone hates them and most everyone squishes them nonstop. The Xeno's AND the insects I mean.

While being quite funny, your sig was the biggest one i've ever seen so far. No more than 700x250 please. ~utrack

the wing connector really helped the model add weight on, aidan, but it still seems rather light for a VHF. perhaps a HF with a torp? also, did you try the forward facing wings like the Berkut has? since they are kinda thin, i thought that may fit somewhat.

i mean like that, the wings.

also, i was thinking perhaps adding 3 tiny tri wings on the engine area, to look like a triangle?

The model is nice, and the foreword answers mostly every question I thought of, but I do have one thing, Skylight... doesn't 'feel' right, but I can't think of another option to be honest.

It look pretty sexy as is, now we just need more wings and such.

EDIT: For not being complete I gotta say that looks pretty good to me.

As this is a alternate Liberty line, why don't we name it something like Vigilante?
EDIT: The ship... It looks alot like a IMG Heavy Fighter.

Come on! Be free!

YES. give it up for border world sale, I'd buy one every day of the week!

I'd like to see it textured though, and the pics are a little small, however it looks like an awesome model!:)

While that is a cracking model.. I'm not getting any ideas as to what organization it belongs to by just looking at it. On the one hand, it's light, has a long nose and grilles. Reminds me a bit of something I'd like to impress the ladies with as I cruise past a space station. The 'bonnet' (:P) definitely has the Liberty look to it. The rear is alot more borderworld.

Basically what I'm trying to say is, it's a top-notch model and it needs to get ingame, but specifically where, I'm unsure of. If you're dead-set that it's an LSF ship, fair enough.

You know, those blasphemous homeworld ships still need replacements..

Very good concept. Personally I would like to wings swept forward a little but it does look nice. Need to try to keep a low scanner profile.

I was thinking for LSF it would be more of an HF in the Recon/Fighter class.

Possible naming ideas:

RF-31 Starchaser, Comet, Starfire, Firestar, RF-?? Watcher, The Retaliator, Widowmaker.
