Have the Radio Operator, the Commanding Officer and 2 more of the bridge crew fight each other verbally so your enemy is entertained and might not shoot you.
Edit: Okay, being serious. It's giving each of the crew members you want to be heard, have some own quirks. Don't have them be 100% compatible robots working perfectly with each other and sharing the same opinions.

When RPing a cap you are RPing the ship's bridge. The captain, the navigation officer, comms officer - etc.
If you are looking for inspiration, read the Horus Heresy books, the first four. It involves seeing what the ''bridge'' of a capital ship looks like and how the interaction between bridge crew happens.

Whenever I've flown cruisers I've mostly kept the Radio Operator as the main voice and only bringing in the captain/commander when something important and authoritative is needed to be said. But I mostly stick to fighters so idk.
I mean, yeah, there is literally nothing stopping you from RPing a cap as a singular character. I am not sure who started off the tendency to have it done like so, but I will admit that I never did the same - often using AI as an excuse to not have any auxiliary staff on hand to involve. It was hard enough to keep track of other people's character names without bringing in 4 more to the mix. Especially if they feel token.
