J. Smythe Mr. Camus de l'Accord
Business Arrangements
Good evening. JS here, known to you as the captain of the Transparent Whale.
I'd like to start off by expressing my pleasure with the arrangement we reached earlier. Certainly, I'm glad to have kept both self and ship intact, but it's also quite gratifying to deal with folks with acute business acumen such as you an' yours are blessed with. I'd rather not waste your time with further flattery, so let's get to the meat of it.
In exchange for payments already rendered an' tendered—one arranged, one spontaneous—I'll continue to go freely about my present business for as long as current market conditions demand it. Once said market conditions change, as I'm quite sure they'll be doin' relatively soon given the political and economic factors at play, I'll switch right on over to hauling your lovely Purple Sleep, and in a quantity exceeding whatever orange I manage to haul before then.
Speaking of the spontaneous payment, that freelancer is quite the reliable fellow. Straightforward scout and escort job, right through some of the most heavily-patrolled systems in space at the present moment. He performed professionally and was good company to boot. Normally, I wouldn't bother mentioning it, but so far as I know, the Unione and the Zoners haven't had much business in the past, and I'm mighty keen on first impressions—it's important to me that I adequately demonstrate how I look out for my reliable contacts. I know you catch my meaning.
Anyway, hope this little communiqué ain't too bothersome for ya. Looking forward to our future business. Eris smile on all you and yours!
J. Smythe

It is a pleasure to hear from you, and of your entourage. You are one of the lucky few that seem to understand that business is business, and though I loathe allowing you to continue yours, you have but my respects for sticking to your proverbial guns. There is indeed a larger picture, and I understand your fellow Zoners have a bit of a struggle with Libertonians. There is one thing us Corsicans understand, and that is 'getting even', so to speak. If this is your weapon of choice, so be it, but the Cardamine boom is not due to last indeed.
Speaking of, you are correct: Corse and Zoners rarely have the opportunity to interact together and yet we do share just a smidge of philosophy, don't we? Live and let live, stay loyal to your kin and all that sort of thing. I am also glad to hear of your growing network, and if that Freelancer is as reliable as you claim, I may very well have some work lined up for them in the future.
Though I am a man of few words, these little interactions entertain me. We are not quite friends yet, Monsieur Smythe, but perhaps one day you may gift me one of those pineal amulets over a nice shared wine.
Yours truly,
Camus
