Biography
Baldur Heinz Schmidt was born to a wealthy family in Planet Holstein, to parents Joseph Heinz and Christina Heinz (née Reims), co-owners of a local company in the largest city of the planet. From his childhood, he was taught all the basic skills his father had learnt during his time as a security pilot, that would prove useful for the family during the events in 800 A.S. Known for his aptitude in science and mathematics, he was a diligent student throughout his high school years. This earned him a spot within the prestigious New Berlin University in 812 A.S. Unfortunately, the war with Liberty two years later meant that he was called to the Rheinland Military, as part of a compulsory draft for selected citizens. While most other people would resent this idea, he took it up willingly. His first combat action saw him posted to the RNC Schwab, an Oder-class gunboat, that would see many victories until its unfortunate demise in Texas in 817 A.S. Of the 37 crew onboard, he was one of the 6 survivors. Fortunately for him, he was allowed to continue his studies and graduated cum laude in 819 A.S.
Despite this, his father, Joseph, was diagnosed with a rare form of disease that was almost fatal. Baldur had to take care of him for three whole years. His father would later fully recover, thanks to cutting-edge medical technology, allowing him to commit to his position as a researcher. He later married a former ALG employee named Angela Schmidt (née Obermayer), now an assistant doctor at Joseph's hospital, in 825 A.S. Subsequently, he made an important mathematical discovery, called Schmidt's Theorem on Isogonals, causing a press sensation that ultimately led him to visiting many prestigious universities all across Sirius.
Then the war with Kusari broke out. This time, he was not drafted into the Military and kept his position within the university, that is, until Rheinland fell into a civil war. Motivated by his wife and ALG in particular, he chose the federalist side, where he acquired a teaching position in Planet Weimar. But when the civil war ended, he had to prove his loyalty. This left him with no choice but to retire from his position, reuniting with his family back in Planet Holstein, contemplating on how to serve the new Rheinland government.
Finally, in 829 A.S., he sought out to the BDM and applied to the organization. As part of his admission, he had to perform many arduous tests, including both physical and mental ones, such as surviving in space for extended periods, or navigating through the Suhl anomaly in a simulation. Not even failing once from a pool of more than fifty candidates, he passed the admission test along with four others in 830 A.S. He was now a full agent of the Büro. While most of his activities concern research and development within the Komissarat division, he has also honed his piloting and combat skills, and has participated in many engagements, especially against the Corsairs and Hessians.
The events leading to the Blackout in 831 A.S., however, led him to write a report, which was later [REDACTED]. His report led to the discovery of [DATA EXPUNGED], something that may prove to be very useful within the AESIR facility and Direktor Katharina Laurenz herself. He formally entered the Research & Development division with the rank of Kommissar in late 833 A.S, and was subsequently promoted to Hauptkommissar in early 834 A.S.
Currently, he is looking forward to create a new type of scanner while also leading the U-Korps to safeguard Rheinland from the Nomad threat.
