OPERATION HADES' HAND The Debriefing Planet Crete, Omicron Gamma
Known internally as "Operation Hades' Hand" and "Operation Gancho" externally, this bold campaign was sponsored by the Deterrence's Cimitarra Company, tasked with special operations and extending the Empire's reach through any means necessary. The goal of the operation was to extend the Empire's influence to Liberty Space through the use of desperate, hired Insurgent to-be mercenaries with hatred of Liberty.
After news of the inevitable downfall of planet Veracruz and complete dissolution of the Insurgents reached Captain Tavros Hernández and his mentor, they put a plan in motion to take advantage of the situation. The plan's result being a summit which set duties and responsibilities for the Insurgents that decided to flee towards the Corsairs.
Perhaps not known to the Insurgents, the Corsair Empire reverse-engineered megatons of Insurgent and Liberty technology, accessing their terminals, databanks and neuralnets. The reverse-engineered pieces were labelled as "unfit for active service" and "discarded" in secure depots, research and engineering stations across the shipyards and planetside facilities in Crete. Their members were also extracted of information, disguised as job applications. Very in-depth technical interviews were carried to not raise any suspicion. Technological insights and information about Liberty's underworld were discovered as a result and noted down.
Some Corsairs opposed the operation as a whole, as expected. Despite opposition and threats of murder and destruction, Deterrence's political influence managed to limit casualties and ensure the smooth progression of the operation, also guaranteeing the Insurgent's trust and making Deterrence's "goodwill" very evident.
The hulls of the ships that carried the insurgent refugees were the only thing that remained mostly untouched. The ships were fitted with "The best corsair technology available" according to the Engineer Corps of the Corsair Empire, but in reality, the ships were fitted with used Corsair technology or pillaged components from multiple raids that weren't melted down. These components were given a fresh coat of paint, and if any problems happened, the Corsair Engineers would deny problems with their implementation and instead blame the Insurgents, citing "Several years of shoddy construction and lack of proper maintenance" of their ships, along with the Omicrons' highly irradiated environment.
Each Insurgent capital vessel was fitted with Commissariat offices, housing aligned political officers of the Empire. They have final say on any matters that happen within the ship, and have main control overrides. Tensions were high between the mixed crew, as expected. But this didn't stop the Commissariat to effectively spy into the Insurgent's modus operandi and secrets: Every room and corridor was under tight vigilance.
The primary objective was fulfilled: The knowledge granted through reverse engineering and information extraction is invaluable for the Empire, and could bring it the advantage it needs on its multiple fronts. Secondary objectives were partially fulfilled, with some Insurgent ships actually being fit for combat and venturing on their own, but with limited results. While the current levels of influence on Liberty Space leaves a lot to be desired, the technology is already a huge step forward.
