The Liberty Security Force can be broken up into three distinct entities.
The first is the Alaskan Security Forces. What goes on in Zone-21 is kept on a strict need to know basis, and the amount of people who need to know can be counted in four digits in a universe of billions. If one even catches a glimpse of them, they’re in big trouble. In recent years, the overwhelming majority of the LSF's resources have been funneled into the defense of Zone-21. This is very necessary for reasons nobody is at liberty to discuss.
The second entity can be further split in two. The first half is the amalgamated combat pilots and warship captains operating within Liberty and abroad. In recent decades, the LSF’s warships have mostly supplemented the Liberty Navy in keeping the peace domestically, however most of those warships are now tasked with the defense of Zone-21. The second half is the actual intelligence gathering and backroom deal-making. These agents are seeded throughout Liberty and beyond looking to tap in to criminal and foreign terrorist networks.
The third entity is the think tanks, researchers, auditors, and outreach. The one currently favored with funding is the Dept. of War Operations Planning, a think tank with several cells of agents assigned to it on a semi-permanent basis.
The Liberty Security Force flies the flag for intimidation, and intimidation alone. The sight of a flight of LSF ships making no secret of who they are sends a clear message that whoever they’re visiting beyond Liberty's borders is being taken very seriously indeed.
However, unlike the formations of missile-toting Battlecruisers of yesteryear that had the LSF feared by lone snub pilots in New York, the reformed LSF with most of its resources kept in defending Alaska is forced to become closer to an intelligence agency than the Navy minus Battleships. Most of what the LSF does is behind closed doors by necessity as its resources are tied up patrolling minefields and repulsing [REDACTED]. The overwhelming majority of LSF work is undertaken while in disguise, with only a few Bisons for classified material handling being in one’s face about it, under normal circumstances. Consequently, most capital ships fielded by the Force outside of Zone-21 are loaners from the Liberty Navy and their deployment on LSF business is likely the end result of some serious horse trading to have an Admiral spare them.
Faction goals
Prosecute Operations: Operations proposed and planned by DOWOP give goals to work towards.
Provide excellent roleplay experiences: Self-explanatory.
Diplomacy & Rules of Engagement: The LSF is authorized and mandated to bargain amongst criminals if the end result benefits the (elite Manhattanite rulers of the) Republic of Liberty.
The LSF is mandated to protect the (important) citizens of Liberty wherever they may be found. Outrages committed by a foreign power should invite punitive expeditions.
RP Consequences & You This iteration of the LSF is not intended to be of the "camp the Gate for smugglers to levy a breathtaking fine upon them" or the "log a cap to pvp" persuasions. Instead, smugglers are likely to merely be blackmailed for information and put on an internal watchlist. Repeat offenders who offer no useful information are likely to suffer consequences. Officially, they're supposed to be interdicting contraband, but if the smuggler knows what's good for them, they're not going to tell anyone they were let off the hook. However, criminal pilots looking to rob Liberty corps are likely to get their asses kicked, as are people who've made it onto the Agency's hit list.
LSF Characters The new LSF, lacking the resources for deployments beyond Zone 21 it used to, is forced to instead have individual agents cultivate spheres of influence. For example, a LSF agent may set up an informant network, or generally influence other characters. How this is accomplished is at the player's discretion.
The LSF is now a more character-driven faction. Time on the tracker is expected to be minimal barring major deployments or convoys.
LSF characters are specialists. The sight of a LSF agent within Liberty's borders should mean there is something that must be dealt with outside the normal chain of command. A LSF agent is likely to, for example, fill in on the spot for the Police or Navy if the situation calls for it, but it's a tremendous waste of a very resource-intensive asset. Agents routinely flying purely to engage hostiles within Liberty are likely to receive a transfer to the Navy where their skillset can be better put to use.
Final Notes: LSF Operational Guide (WIP)
The tag is for bureaucratic convenience alone. Actual time on the tracker is expected to be minimal; most of the LSF's work will, as stated earlier, be done undercover.
Recruitment is done through custom format on Discord.
