From: Chief C. O'Reilly To: The Order Subject: The Nomads
To whomever this may concern,
I'm Chief O'Reilly, Provisional Republic Fleet of the Free Molly State. I'm tasked with compiling a report for the Chancellor's office, and I was led to believe that your organisation has the info I need. It concerns the aliens known as the Nomads.
Their existence has been a tightly-kept secret since the end of the Colony Wars, as I'm sure you're well aware. Our movement's been relatively isolated from the rest of the sector, and had other concerns besides. Until now, that is.
We've had multiple sources share their accounts and warnings of encountering these aliens, as well as humans who have been subjected to some form of mind control by them. Furthermore, our investigation into the Blackout has uncovered an alien structure, which we think may be related to the Nomads. We know that you are dedicated to opposing them.
Our leadership wants to know more about this threat, as well as any individuals or factions you suspect to be compromised. Let me know if you're open to talking.
First of all, my congratulations on your achievements in Dublin. Mollys are one of the newest groups in Sirius and you had already left a lasting mark on human history. It is my personal hope to see Dublin stabilised, in order to prevent Nomads from taking ground in your Republic. Which is exactly our area of expertise. As this is a lengthy topic, consider this an acknowledgement. I will prepare information to be sent to you with my next communication. I will attempt to be concise and refrain from using our personal jargon and technical speech, however I have to balance it out with content you may find critical in years to come. Main subjects will pertain the following topics:
Nomads themselves
Their capabilities
Their human agents
Countermeasures and good practices
If you have any immediate concerns - or specific questions - ask them now and we will attend to it as priority. While The Order forces are not as potent in House of Bretonia as we would be deeper in the Border Worlds or distant Omicrons, we will attempt to render any aid to anyone opposing Nomad menace, using means both overt and covert. You did mention an alien structure. This is a secure channel, tell us the details and we will send reconnaissance to take a closer look at it and decide the best course of action.
From: Chief C. O'Reilly To: Grand Admiral Michal Golanski Subject: The Nomads
Grand Admiral Golanski. I appreciate your swift response.
The Nomads rarely appear in Bretonia and surrounding systems, but they are a cause for concern nonetheless. There are all sorts of parties trying to influence events in Dublin as we speak. Now that we've learned that we have alien interference to worry about, too, we would like to be able to recognise and guard against it if possible.
We know, in very general terms, that these aliens are not entirely organic and their ships come in several sizes and varieties, from small scouts to dreadnought-sized monstrosities. We also know that they employ telepathic communication, and can send visions to humans and even turn them into their thralls, which led to the outbreak of the Colony Wars.
Most the current intel we have on the Nomads actually came from the Gaians. One of their pilots cryptically warned us about an alien danger hidden in the Chester system, though we were not able to confirm what that is. I checked, and that system has long been listed as lost, with no surviving records of it.
There's also the matter of other groups tied to these aliens. We know the Corsairs deal in their artifacts when they are not trying to pillage our home. The Core appears to be some corporate entity with a large paramilitary force and an interest in alien research, but they're very remote to us. Who isn't remote is the Technocracy, which, with their unclear motives besides an unchecked transhumanist agenda, seems like a collection of minds with loose ethical boundaries. We'd like to learn your perspective on all of these factions, if possible.
As for the structure I mentioned, we have encountered it during our first Earhart expedition. Here's the relevant imagery from our flight records. We suspect it to be the origin of the Pulse that fried all but one of Dublin's jump holes during the Blackout nearly three years ago, but we have no idea what it actually is, and getting close has proven difficult.
That just about covers what we have, along with our current questions. I look forward to your next message.
