Colt was a minor video personality on Leeds, primarily as a stunt-man. While doing an on-site shoot in the Cambridge system, his video crew was attacked by a lone pirate. Colt didnt realize that the attack wasnt part of the show, and thought hed missed a page of the script. So he attacked, disabled, and captured the pirate. (The director was notorious for having his crews ad-lib certain things.) When the BPA showed up 5 minutes later and took the prisoner in custody, Colt was stunned. But not as shocked as he was when he was paid 250,000 credits for capturing the pirate. Especially since this amounted to almost 3 months salary for him.
Recognizing a good thing, Colt convinced his agent that he should star as a bounty hunter in a new reality based TV show. The show follows him as he plays a bounty hunter. The audience doesnt realize that he is now, in fact, a bounty hunter for real, and thinks that the majority of what they see on holo-vid is special effects.
