Brief History:
Fearless was originally constructed at Norfolk Shipyard, rolling off the line as part of the first wave of Defiant-class gunboats in 808 AS. Unlike her sister ships, who immediately saw frontline action, Fearless was assigned to Secondary Fleet elements based in the core region of Liberty space. Subsequently, most of her activity involved repulsing major pirate incursions and heavy fire support for fighter wings.
In 820 AS, Fearless's CO - Commander William Black of the Secondary Fleet - announced his retirement from the Navy, and Fearless was subsequently selected for scrapping. However, these plans were abruptly changed after rapidly growing losses on the Rheinland and Bretonian fronts forced Naval High Command to look at other options to replenish their fleets. Fearless was instead transferred to Norfolk for a complete refit in light of new tactics that had developed in the years since she was originally built.
The ship was dramatically overhauled, and when she rolled out of Norfolk in 821 AS, she more closely resembled the new Independence-class ships than a Defiant. The overhaul included installation of many more automated elements, significantly reducing the number of crew needed to run the ship day-to-day. The extra space was rededicated to additional accommodations for marine personnel as part of the new role for the ship. This role required the ship to operate independently for long stretches, even at times behind enemy lines, as a mobile base of operations and support for two full Marine Special Operations Teams (MSOT). With the extended wars against Rheinland and Gallia, such alternative tactics were becoming more of a priority, and Fearless was seen as a testbed for this kind of close cooperation between elite marine units and naval combat vessels.
James Lambert, having recently proven his ability to work closely with marines in his escape from Hamburg, was selected as Fearless's new CO. The ship completed several lengthy training operations in 821 AS, and was formally attached to First Fleet in early summer.

Secondary Propulsion Systems: DSE-UVF-041-RA 'Quicksilver' Chassis Re-Orientation Ion Thruster Array
Brief History
An older specimen of the modern 'Defiant'-class Liberty Gunboat, the Lexington saw service for a number of years in the Navy's Secondary Fleet, assigned as part of the vast Manhattan defensive network. As such, the ship never saw much combat beyond minor skirmishes in the vicinity of Liberty's capital planet, and quickly found itself relegated to little more than a glorified command post.
With both the Rheinland and Gallic fronts escalating quickly, however, and tensions with Kusari reaching historically unheard-of heights, the Lexington was transferred out of Manhattan's defensive screen, and took up berth at Norfolk Shipyard in preparation for the ship taking up an active combat role.
The ship's outdated warhead launchers were removed and replaced with a new 'sister configuration' of complimentary missile pods. The ammunition bay was expanded alongside this reconfiguration, allowing two times more missiles to be safely loaded on-board than normal. To augment the retrofitted launchers, the ship's primary laser weaponry was also modified, with new focusing crystals embedded into the emission systems resulting in a shorter-range, higher-speed beam, specialised for point-defense of the ship and nearby assets.
Following this complete systems overhaul, the Lexington's transfer into First Fleet was finalised at the very end of June 821 A.S, assigned to newly-promoted Captain Marisa Marshall.

Brief History:
The Coral Sea began as Naval Gunboat DE-GB-946, also known as the Clemson. The Clemson was originally a picket vessel stationed out of New Hampshire, designed to stop any fightercraft from sneaking past the front line into Minnesota and greater Liberty. While the Clemson did not receive much action there, its crew received the much needed experience it would need for the upcoming challenge. On December 8, 820 A.S., a large Rheinland fleet jumped into Texas, engaging all Navy vessels stationed there. The Clemson was brought into the fight, and was responsible for the destruction of two Rheinland "Oder" Gunboats, before being stricken by a Nova torpedo and being disabled.
Six months later, with the war with Rheinland continuing and multiple new vectors of threat from Outcast warships and Rogue resurgence, the wreck of the Clemson was brought to Norfolk Shipyard. One month later, the wreck had been completely refurbished, with a new engine, powerplant, and weaponry. It was redesignated the Coral Sea and newly minted Lieutenant Commander John Graham was given command of the vessel. Today, the Coral Sea is stationed at Houston, doing the same thing the Clemson was six months prior.
Service notes:
As of 821 A.S, Coral Sea is currently stationed at Houston for defense against Rheinland raiders, and has received a loadout upgrade to match its new protocol.

Brief History:
One of the oldest serving vessels in the fleet, the Thunder Child was designed in 725 A.S., laid down the following year and finally launched after delayed construction in 731 A.S. Originally used as a staging point for training vessels in the Ontario system, the Thunder Child was re-assigned to the Texas front after the outbreak of the Nomad War. Following its close, the ship was sent to Norfolk to be turned into a museum ship. For the next twenty years, the ship was toured by many Libertonians, showcasing the finest the fleet had to offer in terms of military technology.
However, after the re-engagement of hostilities with Rheinland and the outbreak of war with Gallia, the Thunder Child was called into service once again by Fleet Admiral Nathaniel Davies in 822 A.S. Due to serious structural damage after a major lack of maintenance during its museum years, the Thunder Child is undergoing serious re-fit and repair at Juneau Shipyard in Alaska. Once all repairs are completed, the ship is to be the commanding vessel behind the newly formed 8th Group "Cavaliers", to be deployed as a defensive element within the Magellan and Leeds sectors.
Service notes:
As of January, 822 A.S., the Thunder Child is undergoing repair and re-arm at Juneau Shipyard. It is estimated to take one to six weeks, depending on requirements by other vessels stationed there. Once operational, it will form up with the rest of 8th "Cavaliers" and begin engagements with the Gallic menace.
There were ships of shapes and sizes
scattered out along the bay,
and I thought I heard her calling
as the steamer pulled away.
The invaders must have seen them
as across the coast they filed,
standing firm between them
there lay Thunder Child!
Moving swiftly through the waters,
cannons blazing as she came,
brought a mighty metal warlord
crashing down in sheets of flame!
Sensing victory was nearing
thinking fortune must have smiled!
People started cheering:
"Come on, Thunder Child!"
The Firebolt started its life as the LNS-Wake Island(GB-954). Of the initial order of the Defiant gunboat the Wake Island was one of the last to be built. She proved to be a competent vessel in handling rogue and pirate attacks and her crew worked well together. Also being one of the newest gunboats at the time gave her a slight edge over her sister ships.
When fighting broke out against Rheinland Wake Island received a refit but was not called to the front line. Wake Island continued to serve, patrolling Liberty space until she was called upon to fight the Rheinland foe. It was around this time that rumors began to spread of Wake Island being a 'cursed' ship. She was apparently plagued with all sorts of engine problems, weapon malfunctions, and other technical problems. The plasma engine almost had a complete meltdown on a training mission once and was only just barely contained.
The Wake Island Final met its fate on the Rheinland front when it was reported missing in action. The ship was found two months later. The investigation into the incident conclude that the ship had suffered a catastrophic engine failure that killed the entire crew, though they could not be certain with how bad the damage was. The wreckage was towed back to Norfolk with plans for an overhaul but the ship was eventually left mothballed.
As of 822 A.S. it has been refitted and designated as the LNS-Firebolt to avoid the rumors of the 'cursed' Wake Island.
Service Notes:
The is currently stationed out of Norfolk Shipyard under command of Lieutenant Commander Benjamin Cohen.

File 288 - Liberty Naval Ship St. Lo - Selected
Accessing Files...Access Granted
Comm ID:[LN]-LNS-St.Lo Class: "Defiant"-class Gunboat Combat Role: Close-Range Support, Reconnaissance Status: Active - Stationed at Battleship Yukon, California System. CO: Lieutenant Commander Alexander S. Kingston XO: Lieutenant Kyrah Lyang
Constructed in 815 A.S. as part of an earlier program for the emerging "Defiant"-class gunboats, the L.N.S. St. Lo (GB-622) was at first slated to be a stationary asset assigned to Battlegroup Gamma, headed by the Battleship Missouri. However, this plan was scrapped when her to-be CO Commander Richard Holland passed away suddenly weeks before her maiden voyage. To fill his shoes, Lieutenant Commander Sebastian Trebitz, a Bretonian native and veteran of eight years serving with the Navy, was designated as her commanding officer.
For two solid years, the St. Lo operated as part of Battlegroup Juliet in New Hampshire, stationed off the Battleship Whitefield, and helped to maintain order in the system. Accompanied by her sister ships, the Gambier Bay (GB-632) and the Guadalcanal (GB-620), on numerous occasions during patrols within the system, the three ships, as well as many of the fighter wings dispatched to accompany them, maintained the fragile peace that loomed over the system. When Liberty officially declared wartime upon Rheinland, forces of the Military began to occupy the system as well, quickly turning the system into a bloodbath.
In the following years of the declaration of war, the St. Lo and her sister ships fought against the Military in an almost ceaseless war. Pilots and crewmen of their patrols were lost on almost a daily timer, and with the loss of the Guadalcanal a year in, hope faded. It wouldn't be another year later until the Gambier Bay was discovered in a shot-out wreck near Planet Colebrook, but this only brought the crew of the St. Lo closer together. Her crew and her guns fought off the war, and once it was done, the ceasefire called, she calmed herself and tried to serve a life of quietness.
Today, the St. Lo lives on, a brutal reminder that warfare is never as clean as bureaucrats say it is. Stationed out of the Battleship Yukon in California, and with Trebitz retirement, the ship will have new stories to tell.
Service Notes: The L.N.S. St. Lo is currently stationed out of the Battleship Yukon in California, due to the rise in piracy and wartime problems in Magellan. She is currently under the command of Lt. Cmdr. Alexander S. Kingston.
