This is a bit of an introduction thread, but it is more so a thread that I posted because I wanted to make sure that things are a bit clarified for me before I attempt to start RPing due to the fact that I get such a limited window to get on the server itself. But that is unimportant so let me get straight to the point.
1) What exactly are the restrictions for those that carry civilian IDs? (I understand that the in-game description describes what it is, but doesn't go into much details about what exactly can I do, and not do.)
2) What timezone is the majority of people in?(This is actually quite the big deal for me because if most people are from the US for example then I have about a 12-14 hour time difference to deal with. But I often play at odd times here in Japan I was just wondering when will it be busy/dead)
That's actually all the questions I had for now. I know its a bit noobish to do this, and I might have posted this in the wrong forum. For that I apologize. If you took the time to read through this then ありがとうございますた!!!
I hope that I can have fun playing on Discovery RP Server.:D
Also on a side note I live in Japan for now, but I travel a lot so weird hours is when you will see me post/play online.
The rules include all the restrictions, I will quote the ones for civ ID's here:
' Wrote:5. General PvP Rules
5.3 Characters that are level 29 and below may only be attacked if at least one of the following conditions is met:
a) They do not have a civilian ID. Recruit IDs should be respected if the person is using it appropriately.
b) They attack you first by draining your shields to 50% or disrupt your cruise engines.
c) They are at the scene of a battle between yourself and someone else and refuse to leave when told to leave. (Civilians should leave the area when combat takes place or accept the risk of being attacked if remaining. Onlookers are fair targets.)
d) Civilians who possess a CODENAME weapon may be attacked within roleplay at any level according to the piracy requirements.
' Wrote:6. ID and role-playing engagement rules
6.1 Every player must have an ID equipped on his or her ship. Players under level 40 might use Civilian IDs (basic IDs sold on every station), characters who reach level 40 must choose an NPC faction to ally and get the ID of this faction, or get a generic ID.
All ship and ID choices must be in accordance with current parameters at all times.
6.4 To join any server faction, player must get ID of this faction. Players that have the Civilian ID cannot become full members of any server faction.
6.8 Civilian ID that is given to beginning players allows them to attack:
- For players below level 30: players of similar level below level 30, or any players above level 30.
- For players between level 30 and 39: any players of level 30 and above.
- For players of level 40 and higher: using Civilian ID is illegal, no PvP allowed.
As for timezone, the server is in Czechoslovakia I believe and most of the players are in Europe, so the high player times are between 8-11 pm at GMT +2. But I rarely see the server population go below 40 or so, so it's not a huge deal.
Other than that be sure to read the rest of the rules and follow them.
If you need help any more or have any questions you can always post again. There is also a player group dedicated to helping people in game known as The Angels. Additionally you can stop by the disco help channel where you can also meet a great group of friendly players who have a lot of experience here (link in sig). This is in skype which is the chat program of choice of this community, I highly recommend getting it if you plan on being active here.

Most of all though, Have Fun!
Thank you for clarifying everything. I won't have to worry about the timezones then which is a relief. Discovering this community might lead me to failing this semester of Uni:Dlol jk jk.
Anyway I hope to enjoy my time here.
