Wine… This alcoholic drink can change your mind, can give free feeling to you, and can destroy your reputation of a good man… But it can’t change your life… Never… But there are examples of it. One of these examples is a main character of this story which was born as a pretty girl and now known as a wicked drunk woman…
I’m Margaret Winstone, let me tell you the story my life, short and full of adventures while I'm without the wine.
Chapter one: Early childhood
That is really important to say, that I was born in Liberty Rogues family. Of course, they are not only drinking pirates or something else. I was born in more or less culture family, which has great history of warriors for freedom. And 19 years ago was born a new wave in pirating in Liberty. Daughter of Gloria Linkelnson Winstone and Robert Winstone in first day of life had deep eyes and a pretty smile. Surely I’m speaking about myself. When I was born my father abandoned pirating and started to work on Buffalo's deck. Mother was busy with me and teached me how to speak just like any other child of my age. These moments weren’t so bright but I’m happy that my mother carried with me early years. Because at next step of life she went pirating… I was alone in my room, looked at father photos and dreamed about quiet life as in a fable, where everyone lives a long and happy happy life. I didn’t understand that life isn’t fable and didn’t see reality. That was my five years of life, days of dreaming and loneliness…
Chapter two: Two sides
Six years… Age when you start to understand the world and stop to dream about perfect life. In this age life is not easy as it was. I understood it when my mom and dad returned to pirating. As I said, I was a lone girl. In my Birthday I invited few friends of my age, but they said “Ah, sorry Margo we do not have time for your doll playing” and ran laughing. For sure, I didn’t play with dolls. I sat lone in my room with a small cookie and looked on door dreaming that my parents return. “Lone Birthday to you, Margaret” said I to myself and continued looking on the cookie, then on the door again… I don’t know why, but my eyes stopped on the odd bottles in the kitchen. I felt a strong wish to discover what's in there, but my mind said “These are bottles of your parents, don’t touch them!” I listened it and looked again on cookie. I felt lone again and the “dark side” of my mind was always saying to check these bottles. I understood that my mind divided to two sides and my brain is like battlefield of two knights. I wanted to scream but I couldn’t. That was so hard and I didn’t feel how my legs slowly took me to these bottles. My hand opened the bottle… Luckily, my mom returned in a moment.
While I was sleeping, I felt that someone else controls me. Ah, why I didn’t understand that "someone else" was me? Soon I understood that I have a hard way. "Dark side" of my mind followed me, whispering about my mistakes, which didn't exist. When this side of my mind bored me I opened and drank from that bottle… Bottle of wine… Since that moment that my mind left me along with my worldview.
Chapter Three: Stolen ship
“Yaaaay! I’m nine years old now!” – I said during a new birthday. In that day there were three my friends. Cookie, water and a lot of fun. That day mother and father brought their best present to me – their visit and love…
“Wake up, gal… Wake up!” This voice sounded trough my dream. Glory, gold Medal of Honor, fans, pilots and my ship… This instantly crashed when that voice woke me up. I opened my eyes. Room was practically bathing in light and I felt warm here. Next to me stood my mother, a woman-rogue, who likes to "tax" traders. I slowly woke up and saw my father near the door. I wondered how they are not on a raid…
“Happy Birthday!” Strange voices screamed in my head. Of course, I was so happy to see them today. My body moved away from bed to kitchen. “Cookie!” How I loved it.
Two hours later my friends arrived: Dennis Wilson, son of a mechanic, Jessica Alfredez, daughter from an outcast family and my best friend Ember Samson. When they all sat down we began to celebrate. There weren't any gifts from my friends, because of a crysis this year. Cookie was really nice and sweet, but there was something wrong. Guests looked at me with sad faces and tried to say “We don’t want cookies, we wanna wine!” Parents sat in the other room and watched holographic vision. Our brave young team stole a few bottles and moved away from the home.
“Mom, - I said, -we gonna play. Shall we go?” There was no answer and we moved to the place where all the ships were… Ember looked around and opened first bottle of wine.
“Where is Jessica? – asked Dennis after one bottle” After that I looked on ship which was undocking from the station. As far as I knew that was Alfredez’s transport and we really wondered where it's going to. We were drunk… First and the funniest idea visited my mind when I looked at a lone bloodhound in the hangar.
“Hey, look! – I pointed at a ship which stayed alone – Who wants to steal it and have fun? Hands up!” Two children and me smiled and slowly moved to an empty ship.
Chapter four: First flight
“Hah, what? – dispatcher smiled and looked on a woman, sitting next to him – Of course, I will say to take care of your ship… But isn’t better to replace it with a… say, Mule? Your exploring will be safer this one.”
“I will think about it, – she nodded – but I do not have enough money to purchase it…”
Radio in that room received a signal. “Not again. First day of work and lots of traffic” – thought dispatcher. He opened a link to the communication server and began his dialogue:
- Buffalo base listening.
- This is… - young voice stopped and continued the phrase silently – This is blah-blah-blah rogue patrol. We are moving… to blah-blah system. - Sorry, what? – asked dispatcher. His voice sounded nervous and silent.
The radio voice laughed a bit. -We are moving to C-c-california, right? Yeah, we are moving to California… Hick.
- Missis, you are drunk.
- Me? No-o…
- What do you need? Say it now!
In that moment radio lost signal and small ship left the base.
That is hard to control your ship when you fly for the first time in your life. That is like first love, first step and first wine… We were young children… And we stole a ship. That looked fun but now I understand that this is crime… Crap! But our Fortuna helped us the last time… We were flying freely in space which was cold, empty and silent… We were lost in Badlands… Gah, we couldn’t use navigation map and that’s why we were lost… Ember tried to fly, I looked on more lights on the ship and Dennis slept on turrets control.
“Whoops, we have guests… - said Ember”
Unknown ships flied to us and moved around it… We all understood that this is rogue patrol which saved our life…
When we got home we got sanctioned by Buffalo's boss and were under home arrest for three years… That’s why I wasn’t in school. I was lucky that there were a lot books at home. History, math, physics… All this things I learned at home. In that period there was no wine in my mind… But soon I got adult… And pretty life crushed along with normal dreams…
Epilogue: Years of adult
And now I’m here… I know, my story sounds like a fable or something else… When I became adult I started to drink and pirate. Lifestyle has changed to pirate’s normal life… But now I’m odd. No one stole ships, no one drank at seven years and no one of the rogues dreamed about a perfect life. Now I understand that I was a fool… But wine is like air for me… Like water… Like soul.
In eighteen I closed my room and drank… Song could kill every brain around… But I was alone. And no one stopped me. I feel that I have a small crysis now and I want wine but I do not have money for it. That’s why I became pirating.
