I have a short question: My friend and i are playing independend Mercenaries with Bounty Hunter IFF.
We wanted to equip ourselfs with some decent gear, like a armor uprade VIII, a SNAC and i bought a BH Gunship.
We were then consequently kicked out of Omega 56 by two hunters stating that was their system.
That would be all well and good if we had been able to buy these items anywhere else, but i failed to find them anywhere else than in guard systems so far.
So are Mercs and Freelancers supposed to use inferior equipment just because they don't want to join a faction or is there a base where we can buy some decent atuff without getting shot on sight?
*confused regards*

You are not being forced into joining any faction. We own Omega 56. If you don't have a Bounty Hunter ID and tag mounted on your ship, we won't allow you into the system.
You don't have to be a member of the official player faction, you just need to have the ID.
As for the inferior equipment thing, yes obviously. Your freedom comes at a price.
I do get your point that Omega-56 is the BH Guard system and according to this your home.
Despite of that, your bases are the only guard bases i know which are selling the better eqipment to people without them being totally green to the guard faction. I don't think that this is without a reason.
Additional, this game is still called Freelancer for a reason. What is the point to restrict Players who don't want to be in any faction? Are they worse than others?
This isn't an in-RP question, i totally understand that you want to keep strangers out of your home, but there has to be an alternative, especially since the complete BH-Equipment is listed as green in the tech chart.
you could always buy code weapons... one weapons dealer even said to me lately he had to slash prices and still no one was buying. If that's too costly, you can buy these weapons off a bounty hunter at a slight markup, or get a member of another faction to buy them from their guard system.
This is what you would have to do in RP so I dont see a problem with you actually having to do it.
Try going to other stations, UAU 8 is sold in the region of Delta, along with Nuke mines. Most top class equipment is sold on FP 15, which is an open station. If you can't find the class 9 guns you want on a non-open-access station, maybe you're not supposed to have them?...(or you could ask the faction that owns them very nicely)

We can do what we damn well please with our system, tech chart or no. We can restrict who goes in there, decide what wallpaper is in the dining area, whatever. Don't try suggesting that the rules about system ownership are going to be different for us than any other faction.
BHG weapons are generally speaking freely available to most lawfuls. We aren't restricting you. But if we do encounter you, expect to get told to shove off (in roleplay).
This game is not Freelancer. It's called Discovery. There's a difference.

There is absolutely no reason to get rude. I didn't doubt with a single word that you can do with your system what you want in RP, i just wanted to know if there is an alternative to get certain equipment.
Your first answer impied that independents are not supposed to get this kind of technology at all, which would be...hm...don't know, how are we independents to survive if everybody else is flying around with Armor upgrades VIII, SNACs, Mini-Razors and what not else?
This really was the only point i was going for, nothing about doubting your posessions.

Thank you for the advice. Of course it is possible to ask for it in RP, but there isn't always somebody there to ask for it, and not everybody has the time to be around there for hours waiting for somebody who could buy some equipment for me. If there would have been someone when i got there, of coure i would have asked.
I have looked for FP15, but it says it is the Zoner Guard base - isn't that the same issue then?
Edit: Seems i am to slow - just saw that Coronado sells the armor upgrade VIII but i still have to travel half around the galaxy to get my equipment together...what a pity.
