one hit from a heavy mortar and your hull is gone, too...
mortars are slow and do a lot damage for the energy they cost...
razors do low damage but pay a lot of energy for their tremendous speed. - at a very severe drawback of an extremely short range.
when you re a bomber - and you re playing your cards out right - you shouldn t really worry about a razor. - razors have a very short range. - battleships cannot thrust or outmanouver any bomber. a razor is a PURE anti-GB weapon.
it can be used against bomberpilots that make MISTAKES - .. come to that... so can heavy mortars. a SN has a longer range than a battlerazor, so has a nova. - no idea why a bomber should fear that anti-cap weapon.
Unfortunatley, unlike in real world, here we have to put weapons like BR to way lower damage then they should have in real life, to preserve balance, otherwise people would complain about caps being a bit more usefull.
In reality, for example, Heavy Mortar would pass thru a BS and it's explosion would take out all fighters/bombers within a k or two.
but if we higher the damage...make the range longer...alot more energy consumption..let's say 1 shot take out whole Osiris's power plant and it takes 20 seconds to recharge/cool down..(that would prevent ppl doing wtfpwn with dual railguns)and make the turret has SUPER slow turn rate, pure Artillery weapon, make it have like 8K range. from that range, 1600m/s will still leaves ALOT of rooms for enemy cruisers to dodge
that shouldnt be a problem for the average bomber pilot, heck, it's even hard to hit a bomber with a projectile speed of 1700m/s when a bomber it's not aiming at you (it was the regular BS turrets back in 4.84 btw)

of course, super nova shots would do the same, and novas would blast apart a single BS in one shot once sheilds went down.
of course, in RP it takes entire wings of bombers to take out a cap ship.
anyways, lancer, what you are thinking of would not be used by anyone. given that the damage to energy usage to refire rate would need to be low, or it would replace morters.
