So sometimes, for whatever reason, players will decide to f1 out in space in system X. Now from my odd expiriences, sometimes when you log back on, you are exactly where you logged off in space, yet other times you are back in the last place you docked.
Now what if you want to log back on where you logged off in space? What determines where you spawn when you log back on so you don't have to fly all the way back to where you wanted to be in case it put you back on the last place you docked?
Generally, I am pretty sure that when you end up at the last place you docked, it means that while you have been F1ed out, the server has crashed, causing you to move back to the last place you docked.
But really, I don't know how the server operates in this regard, so I'm not really sure how it actually works.
i always logged back on where i f1ed. only situations i was put back to the last docked base was when i the game crashed to desktop on docking to my destination.
The answer with the servercrash seems to be logical. Since whenever it crashes and you are somewhere in space, you get to the last saved position. Dockingbay or Jumpgate/hole.
Also, I noticed the F1 in space time was increased, which gives NPCs more time to kill you. This can be avoided by simply thrusting in a direction as you F1 out, which sends you "flying" while still connected, which also minimizes the chance of someone running into your ship.
When you log back on, you'll be in the exact place you disconnected from.
During the server crash last night - which effectively resulted in F1's for several of us that were in the middle of RP'ing around a base...
The player in the bomber was reduced to basic material components, because NPC's had nuked him while he was gone. Those of us in large caps came back in at the same place we'd left. Anytime I've F1'd in space with a character in our guard system, he's come back out in space fine as well, so I'd make the guess that it has to be NPC's blowing you up during the 2 minutes you're gone. (One thing I noted last night was that even though the server came back up after the hiccup, it wouldn't let me log on for a bit.)
The worst thing was one time when I F1'd in space - and when I logged back in, it just happened that there was an NPC cap patrol right there just at that moment. So I ended up back in the base - just the hard way...
