I apologize if this has been addressed elsewhere before, but I was unable to find any related search results...
Every once in a while, when another player's ship enters into my scanner, I will select the ship and press F9 so I can see who they are, and what faction they are with, etc... but nothing appears in the window! I mean, it will show me that they are neutral, or hostile, but that's it. What's going on with that? Other times, I might even say most of the time, when I do all of this, it will show me all kinds of valuable information. But then these other times just suck for me, because I don't like not knowing who's coming at me!
I have the Discovery Scanner, if that matters any. Thanks!
Also, there is a bug that sometimes does not let you switch to wireframe view of the ship, it just shows a blank box where the ship and hardpoints should be.

I don't know if this is a bug, or intentional.
I think that has to do with the scanned ship being a Disco addition, instead of a vanilla model. For the first question, I haven't got a clue, I don't believe I ever saw it myself, but then, I only scan people, instead of calling for info.

Even if you have the Discovery Scanner, there is a limit in distance. When they're up close (less than 4k), it should work.

Not a bug. The wireframe thingie is the hitbox for the ship, if I recall correctly (or something similar...) some Disco ships have it (check Gallia ships for example), others do not. Probably depends on something during the development of the ship / putting it in the mod.
Further information can be gained from the development masterminds, I guess (as I'm not very sure about this).

Well thanks for the response, but that doesn't appear to be the case... I've added a screenshot to demonstrate. As you can see, the player I was scanning was 484M away, and yet the F9 box came up empty. It only tells me they are neutral to me, but not what faction they belong to.
But I'm not trying to scan their cargo... I just want to see who they are and what they are affiliated with. So maybe, if I'm understanding this correctly, when people aren't affiliated with any factions, like in the above screenshot (just a guess here, based on the fact that the player was using a starflea), nothing appears in the F9 box? Because generally, when I click on a ship that shows up in my scanner as 10K or less, F9 will show me that the player is an Outcast, or a Rogue, or whatever.

It's much like when you press F9 on a station. It doesn't tell you what the stations affiliation is (Station affiliation is only stated in an info card, not something like this, and many stations don't have info cards) it simply tells you if it is friendly, neutral or hostile.
Seems like a kind of redundant feature to anyone except the colour blind.
