Ok, a killboard for our purposes will be defined here as something that can, through a web-based interface, store and retrieve the kills and losses for individual players. Ideally it can store the value of the items on the ship and information such as the time of the event and the system.
I want to ask a question. Could a server-side script be written that updates a killboard? I can think 2 ways to do the kb.
Server side, a script monitors the global chat for deaths and parses them
A client side program scans the game client screen for death messages, parses them, and contacts the server
on an RP server, this serves no purpose except to extend the e-peens of pvp whores. for that reason, i shoot this idea down. plus, if people DO want to show off how good they are, they have screenshots. most people i know now mash the screenshot button so often due to fear of breaking a rule, they have most of their kills recorded either way.
