The Hokkaido system is of major importance for Samura. They have many plans for it and if they manage to come to fruition, Samura will be in a position to crush all of its opposition.
First of all, the plans for Sapporo include making it one of the largest storage facilities for H-Fuel in Sirius. It is also in the more secure area of Hokkaido. To the north lies the Chugoku gate site. If Samura were to manage to remove the delays in Hokkaido and it were complete, they would be able to strike a major blow to the Blood Dragons, possibly putting them completely out of commission. If they could do that while ousting the GC and securing the Hokkaido system, they would have a giant supply of H-Fuel, allowing them to compete nicely against the Kishiro/GMG business partnership.
So, of course, the GC and Dragons can't let that happen, can they?
Event idea
Samura will bring in a convoy for Sapporo of necessary parts to help with its expansion. This is, of course, one step in securing Hokkaido and achieving all those major goals. The Dragons will have heard of this and, with the assistance of the GC, strike at the convoy. They will try to stop the convoy and possibly seize the cargo for their own uses (though stopping it is important enough).
When the ambush occurs, Samura will broadcast a distress signal, and the KSP will rush to the rescue. The KNF may also respond from the Battleship Matsumoto. This will culminate in a big brawl with much chaos.
Outcome ideas
If the Dragons' side wins, they'll strike a major blow to Samura. If all goes well, perhaps then another event could occur later that would involve an attack on Yokohama shipyard.
If the Samura side wins, they'll take a step forward in their Hokkaido plans. If all goes well, perhaps another event could occur that involves supplying the gate site directly
When and where
Time: Possibly Friday, August 14th, at 2200GMT?
Location: Southern Hokkaido system
Who
Let me know if you're interested and I'll add it here, so we can balance things out. As of now, it's open to anyone of a GC, Dragon, Samura, KSP, or KNF affiliation. Possibly also the Hogosha, FA, or CS depending on how the numbers work out?
What sort of ships does everyone think would work best? Maybe similar numbers of transports, then fighters?
Possible people:
Samura
Ktayn
Baconsoda, Escort
Ceoran - transport or Eagle
GC
Argonaut
Dancing Lady
Ironwatsas (or Samura)
Dragons
Reavengitair
Stahu
teschy (NovaPG)
i'm just the trade guy
I'm there, as long as time and date is ok for me (GMT+1, and i'm away from the 25 for two weeks)
And as i told you in Skype, i think an ambush in Tokio would be better. I remember i escaped from an AFA which was SNing me since we left the gate to Sapporo. And i only had a BWT.
In a brilliant tactical movement, i charged backwards.
Ships: if I were the attackers, I'd bring 4 bombers, instapwn any transports, then leave. Easy win, no fun except for the blue message freaks. So to avoid this kind of outcome, I would suggest a limit of 1 bomber for every three fighters, on both sides. Of course, you can still target just the freighter with only fighters, then leave without shooting any of the escort fighters. To avoid that, I suggest taking inspiration from singleplayer, and having the Dragons use a transport to board the Samura ship. So now both sides have something to defend. Major victory for the Dragons would be capturing the Samura freighter, major victory for Samura would be getting to Sapporo intact. Minor victory for the Dragons would be blowing up the Samura transport, while minor victory for Samura would be blowing up the Blood Dragon transport while not making it to Sapporo. And both sides lose if both transports are destroyed.
Also, no gunboats. Maybe when the event moves to a more critical area for either side, but initially, no gunboats.
What about something like Sunday August 9 at 19:30GMT (right between any other reoccuring events)? That's 3:30pm EDT, 12:30pm PDT, or 8:30 in GMT+1 (I don't know any fun initials for that). I guess that would end up being like 7:30 in Australia?
Ok, ship-wise, how about each needs at least 1 Transport, then a 3:1 Fighter:Bomber ratio? Possibly only the Dragons/KNF fielding them?
On the one hand, NT makes sense for an ambush, but it's also more readily able to provide reinforcements. I'm thinking as soon as the Samura's side gets through, the Dragons and company block the gate, preventing anyone incoming or outgoing.
Also - what type of ships are you recommending for this? I don't have a blood dragon transport... but im sure I could bring a bomber... gunboat... fighter... light figher...
