So I finally found my first Gallic jumphole... the one that goes into Lorraine. Before docking, I checked a few threads I could find here about junker/gallic relations, and I found some talk about how junkers are welcome in Gallia, but that the good guys are the bad guys there.
Anywho, I docked, entered Lorraine, and was greeted by several hostile NPCs of the Gallic Royal Navy. I wedged myself inbetween a few mines until they flew off, then I began exploring. I then encountered more hostile NPCs, this time of the Gallic Police. I tried fighting them off, but they were too quick for my sluggish CSF, and I was terminated. Oh yeah, also, I happened to see a few NPCs of the Council fly past me, and they were white (neutral) to me.
My question is this: WHO am I supposed to be hostile with in Gallia? Who am I supposed to be neutral with? Is my rep just effed up in general?
My Junker was neutral with all Gallia factions. Seems like the right things since Junkers are the "quasi-legal" faction. Dunno what to tell ya. If it matters, I'm red with pretty much all Kusari factions besides BD and GC.

According to the lore, true Gallic Junkers (those that have not forgotten their Gallic history and heritage) should be neutral to the Crown and Royal forces, while somewhat hostile to the Council and various unlawful factions. Other Junkers, typically ones from Sirius, would side with the Council and are hostile to the Royal forces because they are seen as invaders and trespassers. It's up to you to craft a character that follows one of these paths. However, all Junkers are regarded with suspicion with by either side, so don't think being neutral to everyone means you have free reign over Gallia. :)
Yep, Jokoro is right. I would like to add though that the junkers (atleast the gallic ones) are more tolerated by the the gallic government than sirrian junkers are by sirrian governments. Probably do to the assistance many of them (mind you, not all of them) provided in establishing and maintaining a spy network in sirius.
Not to mention stealing technology from the other Houses so Gallia is, by far, technologically superior to the rest of Sirius... all the work of Junkers working for the Crown.

TO be honest I am not 100% clear on how much work was done by actual junkers and how much by agents of the crown working with junkers.
My impression was that the junkers provided the infrastructure and the logistics for agents of the crown in sirius who did a great deal of the more tricky work, but like a said, i am not sure.
If you use the technology compatibility chart, rumors and infocards as a guide--Junkers are not "well respected" by ANYONE in Gallia. They are allowed easy access bases--even on the trade lanes (which shows some official acceptance by the government as does their recruitment as spies). The criminal rumors and base info show that Junkers have had a tumultuous relationship with criminals often filled with betrayal or an outbreak of hostility. The sort of thing one might find working with hired mercenaries who don't necessarily share their employers loyalties.
If you look at the tech chart, the fact that Junkers are not allowed either sides non-civilian weapons shows their lack of status--even within the monarchy. Junkers have obviously been kept "needy" by both sides to keep them useful.
I would imagine a small percentage of the first Junkers were actually agents for the Crown--mixed in to "spy on the spies" and perhaps assit or perform highly classified actions. Only a very select few Junkers would probably have been allowed to know who these agents were as needed. So the governemnt agents would be the most unknown, Junker spy leaders the next most secretive and then your rank and file Junker spy whop would be a foot soldier doing the dirty work--like a seal or commando team dropped behind enemy lines.
Think of Royal agents with them as CIA operatives working with their support and in charge overall as needed, the Leading Junkers regularly in contact with Gallia as forward deployed intelligence officers and the rank and file Junker as a field squad of commandos. The rest would have been simply 'cover" and manpower--used unknowingly.
A Junker exposed as a Gallic operative would certainly be hostile to the Council and vice versa. Some may have managed to keep their covers and still be unknown--a state the Crown could use as blackmail or incentive to keep a Junker working for the monarchy.
A Junker in Gallia should be free to bend weakly either way or strongly one way or the other. Known Gallic Junkers who have been open with their loyalties would be green to one side and red to the other and those playing the middle would be most like the ones in outter Sirius--allowed and used but never fully trusted.
